Create or Edit a Consignee Label, Doc Label, or Shipment Label Header Template

Note: After you create and save a consignee label, doc label, or shipment label header template, you must specify when to print the labels and headers. See Set Printing Setup System Preferences and Select Custom Consignee Labels, Doc Labels, and Shipment Label Headers.

To create or edit a consignee label, doc label, or shipment label header template:

  1. Select Create/Edit Custom Labels on the Tools tab or click the Select Custom Label button in the Profile Editor window. The Custom Label Editor window appears.

  2. If you want to edit an existing template:

    Note:
    You cannot edit a UPS Sample template.

  3. Under Existing Templates, select the template that you want to edit.

  4. Click the Edit button. The Custom Label Editor welcome window appears.

  5. Review the information and click the OK button. The Edit Template window appears.

  6. Skip to step 6.

  1. If you want to create a template based on an existing template, such as a UPS Sample template:

  2. Under Existing Templates, select the template on which you want to base the template.

  3. Click the Copy button. The Copy Template window appears.

  4. Enter a template name up to 50 characters in the Enter the Name of the New Custom Label Template box or the Enter the Name of the New Shipment Label Header Template box and click the OK button. The Custom Label Editor window appears and displays the new template name under Existing Templates.

  5. Select the template and click the Edit button. The Custom Label Editor welcome window appears.

  6. Review the information and click the OK button. The Edit Template window appears.

  7. Skip to step 6.

  1. If you want to delete an existing template:

    Note:
    You cannot delete a UPS Sample template.

  2. Under Existing Templates, select the template that you want to delete.

  3. Click the Delete button. A message asks you to confirm the deletion.

  4. Click the Yes button. The Custom Label Editor window appears.

  5. Skip to step 10.

  1. If you want to create a new template:

  2. Under New Template, click the down arrow in the Template Type box and select a type of label.

  3. Type a name up to 50 characters for the new template in the Template Name box.

  4. Click the Create button. The Custom Label Editor welcome window appears.

  5. Review the information and click the OK button. The Edit Template window appears.

  6. Continue with step 6.

  1. Use the following options as needed:

    Note:
    A ToolTip appears when you point to most elements you place on the canvas.

  2. Add a Field Click the down arrow in the WorldShip Fields box and select a field category. Using the field list under the field category, select a field and then drag and drop the field to the desired location on the canvas to place the field.

  3. Add Custom Text Type the text up to 45 characters in the Custom Text box and click the Add Text button. The text is placed in the upper left corner of the template and can be moved to another location on the template.

  4. Add a Field and Text Select a field in the field list, type the text in the Custom Text box, and drag and drop the field to the desired location on the canvas to place the field and text.

  5. Add a Field without Text Select the Add Data Field Only check box.

  6. Add Test Data Select the Display Test Data check box to pre-populate the field with test data.

  7. Add an Image Select an image under Image Library and drag and drop the image to the desired location on the canvas to place the image. For more information on the Image Library, see Maintain the Image Library.

  8. Associate Profiles with a Template Select the check box next to each profile that you want to associate with the displayed template.

    Note:
    Only one of each template type can be associated with a profile.

  9. Add a Horizontal Line Click the Add Line button under Template, click and hold the left mouse button to indicate the beginning of the line on the canvas, drag the line to its end, and release the left mouse button.

  1. Modify the properties of the fields and text placed on the canvas as needed:

  2. Select the item on the canvas.

  3. Under Field Properties, change the font and alignment, make the text bold, and define a barcode.

    Note:
    To reverse any field property changes, click the Undo button.

  4. Under the WorldShip fields list, change the field length.

  1. Remove field(s) on the canvas as follows:

  2. To remove one field or image, select the field or image on the canvas and click the Remove button under Template. A message asks you to confirm the deletion. Click the Yes button, and the field or image is removed from the canvas.

  3. To remove all fields and images, click the Remove All button under Template. A message asks you to confirm the deletion. Click the Yes button, and all fields and images are removed from the canvas.

  1. To test the custom label, click the Print Test Label button. The label prints using the current label printer selection in system preferences.

  2. Click the Save or Close button, as appropriate.
