The Profile Editor allows you to create a profile. Using the Profile Editor, you can add, delete and modify profiles as well as view the UPS profile. You can then assign a particular profile to a shipper using the Profile Editor or the Shipper Editor or to a customer using the Address Book Editor, or you can select the profile from the Profile box in the Shipping window.
To access the Profile Editor, select Create/Edit Profile on the Tools tab. The Profile Editor window replaces the Shipping window. At first glance, the Profile Editor window looks like the Shipping window, but a closer look reveals a few differences.
When working with profiles, keep in mind:
No fields are required for a profile. The fields in blue are required only when the profile is used for shipping.
Each shipper and customer can only be associated with one profile. (You can change profiles for a shipper or customer as needed.)
You can assign the same profile to more than one shipper or customer.
If you do not assign a profile to a shipper, UPS WorldShip assigns the UPS profile.
You can assign a profile to a shipper or customer as follows:
In the Profile Editor window, click the Assign Profile to Shippers button. The Shipper Profiles window appears so you can select a profile for each shipper number. See Assign a Profile to a Shipper using the Profile Editor.
In the Shipper Editor window, select the shipper number and then click Modify. Click the Preferences tab and select a profile for that shipper. See About the Shipper Editor.
In the Address Book Editor window, select a customer and a profile for that customer. See Assign a Profile to a Customer in the Address Book.
If the Shipping window is clear and you select a customer in the Company or Name box or type a customer ID in the Customer ID box, the profile associated with that customer supersedes a profile associated with the active shipper or a profile you selected previously.
If you enter shipping information and then select a customer in the Company or Name box or type a customer ID in the Customer ID box, the Change Active Profile window appears. In this window, you must decide if you want to clear the Shipping window and use the profile associated with the selected address or use the selected address without its associated profile.
If you work in a workgroup environment, see Profile Editor Rules in a Workgroup Environment.
