Create a Multi-Piece Shipment Quickly

You can quickly create a shipment with multiple packages for one consignee. Using the Multi-piece Shipment command, simply type the total number of packages and select a package weight option. If you know the combined weight of all the packages in the shipment, select the Enter Total Shipment Weight option and enter the weight; UPS WorldShip calculates and displays the average package weight in the Shipping window for each package. Or, select the Enter Package Weights on Shipping Window option, and then, using the Shipping window, enter the package weight for each package by typing the weight or by using the scale.

To create a shipment with multiple packages:

  1. Select a shipper and a profile.

  2. Specify the Ship To address.

  3. Specify the Ship From address.

  4. Specify the following as needed:

  5. Shipping services. Except for the package weight, specify a UPS service, package type, and bill-to information. See Specify the Shipping Services.

    Tip:
If you type a weight in the Package Weight box, you will not be able to continue this procedure.

  6. Shipping  options. See Specify the Shipping Options.

    Tip:
All package options that you specify now apply to all the packages in the shipment. To specify package options for individual packages in the shipment, specify these options after step 6.

  7. Shipment and package reference numbers. See Specify the Reference Numbers.

  1. On the Home tab, select Multi-piece Shipment. The Multi-piece Shipment window appears.

  2. In the Multi-piece Shipment window:

  3. Type the total number of packages.

  4. Select a package weight option:

  5. If you know the combined weight of all packages in the shipment, select Enter Total Shipment Weight and then type the combined weight in the box.

  6. To apply Hundredweight pricing to the shipment, select the Hundredweight Pricing Applied check box. You should only select this check box if you are familiar with Hundredweight pricing.

    Tip:
If you select the Hundredweight Pricing Applied check box in the Multi-piece Shipment window, you cannot edit, add, or delete packages for the Hundredweight shipment; you can only void the Hundredweight shipment.

  7. If you want to enter the package weight for each individual package, select Enter Package Weights on Shipping Window.

  8. Click the OK button. The Shipping window appears.

Note:  Do not select Ground (Freight Pricing) if it appears. For information on this service, see Process a UPS Ground (Freight Pricing) Shipment.

  1. If you selected the Enter Package Weights on Shipping Window option in the Multi-piece Shipment window, enter the package weight of each package. You can either type the weight for each package in the Weight box or use electronic scales or a dimensioner to enter the weight for each package. As you type or edit each weight or weigh a package using the electronic scale or dimensioner, WorldShip recalculates and displays the total shipment weight and cost.

    Tip:
Scale and dimensioner support is not available in some countries.

  2. On the Details tab, specify if the package qualifies as large by entering the dimensions or selecting the Large Package check box. See Specify the Shipping Details.

  3. On the Service tab, note the following:

  4. If you selected the Enter Total Shipment Weight option in the Multi-piece Shipment window, UPS WorldShip divides the total weight by the total number of packages and displays the average package weight in the Package Weight box. This box becomes read-only if you selected the Hundredweight Pricing Applied check box in the Create Shipment window.

  5. "HundredWeight Applied" appears below the Shipment Cost (if you selected the HundredWeight Pricing Applied check box in the Create Shipment window).

  1. When you are finished, click the Process Shipment button.
