How to Reconcile Addresses with Range Candidates

This topic is a step-by-step sample of the actual procedure to update an address using suggested street range candidates..

Scenario: You enter ABC Company in your address book. While entering the address, you incorrectly enter 143 York Road instead of 1143 York Road, as follows:

You type:

Company Name:ABC Company

Address Line 1:143 York Road

City:Timonium

State/Province:MD

Postal Code:21093

The correct address is:

ABC Company

1143 York Road

STE 280

Lutherville Timonium MD 21093-6201

US

To reconcile this address with range candidates:

  1. In the UPS Address Reconciler window (or UPS Interactive Address Reconciler window if you are in interactive mode), the following aids indicate that the street address you typed is not within a valid range:

  2. The Street address not within a valid range message appears at the lower left.

  3. Suggested range candidates (that is, valid street, suite and room number ranges) appear in the lower right side in this window. If you select a range candidate, it moves above the Accept button, but the Accept button remains inactive because you can only view a range candidate.

Note: Suggested candidates also may appear in the lower right corner in this window, but are not discussed here. For more information, see How to Reconcile Addresses with Suggested Candidates.

  1. Using the scroll bars to view the range candidates, determine if the address falls within a valid address range. This list may present up to 20 suggested range candidates in priority order.

  2. Manually correct the original address information on the left side in this window, as follows:

  3. Place your cursor in front of the 1 in the Address Line 1 field and type 1. The field now shows 1143 York Road.

  4. Place your cursor in the expanded Postal Code field and type 6201.

  1. Click the Save button. You are connected to UPS to verify the address information you typed and then the Address may be invalid. Save anyway? message appears.

  2. Verify the address information you typed:

  3. Click the Yes button if the information you typed is correct. The address information is updated in your Address Book.

  4. Click the No button if the information you typed is not correct. The original address information may not be correct; therefore, you will be provided with a new set of candidate addresses. Repeat steps 1 – 4.

  2. If you are reconciling a batch of addresses, select the next address for reconciliation, or you can click the Exit button to return to the shipping application.

  3. If you are reconciling a single address, the shipping application appears.
