Specify the Commodities for UPS Ground (Freight Pricing)

Note: The maximum number of commodities is 50.

To add a commodity to the commodity grid:

  1. Click the button on the Commodity tab to expand the commodity grid.

  2. Select the Save/Update Commodities check box to add or update the commodity information in the grid to the Commodity Editor.

  3. Type the number of pieces (maximum number is 999) in the Pieces box.

  4. Click the down arrow in the Packaging Type box and select a packaging type.

  5. Describe the commodity in the Description box.

    Tip: To add a large number of commodities, use the Commodity Search button as an alternative to adding items to your shipment on the Service tab. Click the Commodity Search button to display the Commodity Search window and access commodity information in the Commodity Editor.

  6. Type the weight of the commodity in the Total Weight box.

  7. Select the HM/DG (Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods) check box if required.

  8. Click the down arrow in the Freight Class box and select a class.

  9. Enter the 6-digit National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) number in the NMFC box.

  10. Enter the 2-digit NMFC sub number in the Sub box.

  11. Click the button to reduce the commodity grid.

Note: To delete a commodity from the commodity grid, select the commodity and click the Delete button. To delete all commodities from the commodity grid, click the Delete All button.
