A freight shipment must show between one and 99 freight commodities.
To add a commodity to your Air or Ground Freight shipment:
Click the
button on the Commodity tab to expand the commodity grid.
Select the Save/Update Commodities check box to add or update the commodity information in the grid to the Commodity Editor.
For Ground Freight:
In the Description box, type a brief description of the commodity.
Tip: To add a large number of commodities, use the Commodity Search button as an alternative to adding items to your shipment on the Service tab. Click the Commodity Search button to display the Commodity Search window and access Commodity information in the Commodity Editor. See Search for a Commodity for Air/Ground Freight.
In the Packaging Type box, click the down arrow and select a packaging type.
In the Pieces box, enter the number of pieces (up to and including 9,999).
In the Total Weight/Unit Weight box, type the weight in whole numbers.
Tip: To set the weight type (that is, Total Weight or Unit Weight), see Set Shipping System Preferences.
In the Freight Class box, click the down arrow and select a class.
In the NMFC box, enter the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) number.
In the Sub box, enter the NMFC sub number.
Select the HM/DG (Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods) check box if required.
Note: If you select the HM/DG check box, UPS WorldShip automatically selects the HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods check box on the Options tab.
For Air Freight:
Tip: To set the unit of measure (that is, metric or imperial), see Set Shipping System Preferences.
In the Description box, type a brief description of the commodity.

Note: If you select the HM/DG check box, UPS WorldShip automatically selects the HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods check box on the Options tab.
Click the
button to reduce the commodity grid.
Note: To delete a commodity from the commodity grid, select the commodity and click the Delete button. To delete all commodities from the commodity grid, click the Delete All button.
