Notes:
This task requires previous experience working with databases. Ask your technical staff for help if necessary.
Use only a Western character set to create records for an import file. If you use any other character set to create the field names and data in a record, the import fails for that record.
If you use Character Map (a Windows function) to insert special characters into the data that you plan to import, use only characters that belong to the Windows: Western character set. Otherwise, the characters are converted to the Windows: Western character set and may not appear as you want.
Prerequisites: Create an import map.
To complete a keyed import:
On the Import-Export tab, select Keyed Import and then More. The Select Map From List for Import window appears.
Select the import map to use and click the Import button. The Enter Import Key window appears.
Tip: The Temporary Replace Tables in Map window appears if you selected the Prompt For the File Name Each Time Map is Used check box when you created or edited the map. Select the new table name to replace the current table name and click the Connect and OK buttons.
Type an import key in the Enter Import Key box and press the Tab or Enter key.
Tip: You can also use a scanning device to enter the import key value (in the form of a barcode).
If a single matching record is found, UPS WorldShip uses the active import map to translate and display the record in the Shipping window.
If more than one matching record is found, UPS WorldShip alerts you and selects the first found record.
If no matching record is found, UPS WorldShip alerts you, and you must confirm the message to continue.
If there is an invalid 1Z tracking number, the Shipment has Invalid 1Z Tracking Number(s) window appears. Select whether or not to clear invalid 1Z tracking numbers.
Continue to process the imported shipment as you would any other shipment.
Tips:
To add a package to the shipment, click the Last button on the Shipment Navigation Bar.
To choose another database, repeat steps 1 and 2. To make switching between databases easier, the three most recently-used map names appear on the Import-Export tab under Keyed Import.
When you are finished, click the Close button in the Enter Import Key window or select Keyed Import on the Import-Export tab and then Off.
