Note: This task requires previous experience working with databases. Ask your technical staff for help if necessary.
To create a map to export records to a Comma Separated Value (CSV)-formatted file:
On the Import-Export tab, select Create/Edit Map. The Create or Edit an Import or Export Map window appears.
Under New Map:
Select Export to ODBC Database.
Select the Export CSV check box.
Click the down arrow in the Map Type box and select the type of data you are exporting (such as Address Book or Shipment).
Type the name you want to assign to the export map in the Name box.
Click the Create button. The Edit Export to CSV Map window appears.
Add new fields to the CSV-formatted map:
Under Shipment, select a field and click the Add button. The field displays under Your CSV File and a
displays beside the field under Shipment.
Repeat this step for each field you want to include in the CSV export map.
Click the Add All Columns button to add all fields to the CSV-formatted map.
Make any necessary adjustments to the CSV export map.
Tips:
To remove all fields of the displayed group in the export map, click the Remove All Columns button.
To remove one field in the export map, select the field under Your CSV File and click the Remove button. The
symbol is removed from that field under Shipment.
To edit a field in the CSV export map, select the field and click the Edit button. The Mapping Connections window appears. See Create an Import/Export Map Translation.
To change the order of the fields in the CSV export map, select the field you want to move and click the Move Up or Move Down button to move the field to the desired location.
To rename the column assigned to a particular field (which is another way to move a column under Your CSV File), select the field to display the column name in the Column Rename box. Then type the change in the box and click the Rename button. The new column name under Your CSV File.
When you are finished, click the Define CSV File Name button to save the file. The standard Save As window appears.
Specify a file name and click the Save button.
Click the OK button. The Create or Edit an Import or Export Map window appears and displays the new map in the Existing Maps grid.
To edit an existing map:
On the Import-Export tab, select Create/Edit Map. The Create or Edit an Import or Export Map window appears.
Select the export map in the Existing Maps grid that you want to edit.
Tip: The
icon identifies an import map; the
icon identifies an export map.
Click the Edit button. The Edit Export to CSV Map window appears.
The left side of the window displays the data fields. The right side is titled Your CSV File and displays the fields specified in the CSV-formatted file.
Continue with steps 3 and 4 in the procedure above.
To append any changes to the existing map, select Append to Existing File (this makes the Include Header Row check box inactive). Any changes you make are added to the existing map.
To discard the existing map and store only your changes, select Overwrite Existing File. Select the Include Header Row check box if you want the first row of the map to contain column headings. Clear the check box if you want the first row to contain data.
