If you plan to have UPS prepare international export documents on your behalf, you must grant UPS power of attorney so that UPS can act as your agent to secure the export of your goods from the US. You must file an International Shipper Agreement with UPS for each active shipper or provide a Power of Attorney with each international shipment. Both grant UPS power of attorney on your behalf for all international shipments you send with UPS. The only difference between the two forms is how UPS receives them. You send the International Shipper Agreement directly to UPS to file for you. A Power of Attorney form accompanies an international shipment.
Once UPS acknowledges receipt of your International Shipper Agreement or Power of Attorney, UPS WorldShip recognises this and does not print a Power of Attorney for any international shipment sent for the exporter named in either document. It does print a Power of Attorney if you designate a different exporter and process a shipment that requires a Power of Attorney.
To file an International Shipper Agreement directly with UPS:
On the UPS.com tab in the Shipping window, select International and then Print International Shipper Agreement. The International Shipper Agreement prints.
Complete and sign the document. (The document must be signed by someone to whom the bylaws of your company grant the power to execute a power of attorney.)
Mail or fax the document to UPS.
To provide a Power of Attorney for a shipment on behalf of a different exporter (or if UPS has not yet received your International Shipper Agreement or Power of Attorney):
Process the shipment as usual. WorldShip prints a Power of Attorney for the shipment.
Complete and sign the agreement. (The document must be signed by someone to whom the bylaws of your company grant the power to execute a power of attorney.)
Attach the Power of Attorney to the shipment and give both to your UPS driver.
