Note: Use the Commodity Editor to add new commodities. See Add a Freight Commodity with Commodity Editor.
To search for an Air or a Ground Freight commodity and add it to the shipment:
Click the Commodity Search button on the Service tab. The Commodity Search window appears and displays all contents for the current freight type.
Supply the following criteria based on the type of Air or Ground Freight shipment you are processing currently:
Tip: The dimension boxes accept only whole numbers using the unit of measure set on the Shipping tab in the System Preferences Editor window.
In the Description box, enter a brief description.
In the Packaging Type box, click the down arrow and select a packaging type. (Select All to match commodities with any packaging type.)
In the HM/DG box, click the down arrow and select if required. (Select All to match commodities with any HM/DG commodity.)
In the Freight Class box, click the down arrow and select a class. (Select All to match commodities with any Freight Class.)
In the NMFC box, enter the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) number.
In the Sub box, enter the NMFC sub number.
In the Length box, enter the largest dimension.
In the Width box, enter the second largest dimension.
In the Height box, enter the third largest dimension.
Click the Search button to perform the database search. Once matches are found, those matches appear under Search Results.
Notes:
If no records match your criteria, the following message appears: "There were no Freight Commodities that matched your query." Click the OK button and revise your criteria.
UPS WorldShip sorts the commodities by Description. To re-sort the search results by other criteria, click the appropriate column header.
Select the check box under Select Commodity for each commodity that you want to add to your shipment.
Update the following fields for each commodity as needed: Pieces, Unit Weight, and Total Weight.
Tip: The weight boxes accept only whole numbers using the unit of measure set on the Shipping tab in the System Preferences Editor window.
Click the Add button to add the commodity to the shipment. The Commodity Search window closes, and the item appears in the commodity grid on the Service tab in the Shipping window.
There is no limit to the number of commodities that you can select and add to a shipment. The limit is taken care of during shipment processing.
