We know you need a lot of information right now, so we are hosting a series of webinars to help small businesses respond to the coronavirus pandemic. In the second webinar, Allen Gutierrez, Associate Administrator for Entrepreneurial Development from the Small Business Administration (SBA) will be joined by Ashley Bell, Regional Administrator and Entrepreneurial Policy Advisor, and export finance manager David Leonard to give updates on the emergency relief programs passed by Congress and highlight additional resources available.
Here’s what we will be talking about:
Many small businesses have already applied for SBA loans, grants, and other forms of assistance created by the CARES Act, passed by Congress in March to provide relief to the U.S. economy as it battles the impact of COVID-19.
This webinar, facilitated by UPS, will provide an overview of the main relief programs in the massive support package and offer updates on the status of each.
The initial round of funding for the flagship Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was allocated in record time. SBA regional administrator Ashley Bell will describe how the SBA is addressing the extraordinary demand for assistance as it partners with financial entities and community organizations nationwide to distribute funds and provide ongoing support.
“We’re moving from a health crisis into an economic crisis,” says Maria Luisa Boyce, UPS vice president of global public affairs. “Knowing what help's available and having the right tools at hand will make a difference for your business.”
Knowing what is available is one thing. Getting practical advice on how to access these small business resources is another.
Whether you’ve already applied for assistance or plan to apply in a future funding round, Associate Administrator Allen Gutierrez, Regional Administrator Ashley Bell, and export finance manager David Leonard will give expert tips and answer any questions you may have.
In addition to the latest on the coronavirus relief programs, you’ll learn about other resources available from the SBA that may help small businesses like yours.
For businesses everywhere, COVID-19 is a transformative event. The post-pandemic economy will be different than the one we left behind.
Now is the time to be evaluating your business model and exploring new avenues to growth. For some, this may involve a deep rethink of how you do business.
For many, change is already underway. According to the latest UPS survey, businesses responding to supply chain challenges as a result of the coronavirus are diversifying their supplier bases and increasingly embracing direct-to-consumer sales.
Others are looking to grow their markets further afield. “Since the outbreak began, we have seen more interest in learning about exporting resources,” adds Boyce.
Whatever approach you take, the webinar will offer up practical guidance for resetting your business strategy for the road ahead.
Resetting your business strategy is the first step. But when the rubber meets the road, what then?
The pandemic is already transforming how businesses connect with customers. “Having an online presence, being active on social media, and offering e-commerce is no longer an option for businesses managing the crisis,” says Boyce.
The experts from the SBA will provide insights about how to meet the challenges in the new economy.
Even larger companies that may have the financial reserves to weather the storm are seeing their smaller suppliers under serious strain from the global crisis. Regardless of the size of your payroll, we’re all in this together.
That’s why it’s so important to share knowledge and resources at this urgent time, says Boyce. “Joining webinars such as this and being part of our business community will help you and your industry partners be better prepared for the new economy.”
This webinar is part of a series covering topics from e-commerce strategy to technology solutions. These webinars are designed to help small businesses mitigate the business impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to this webinar, UPS is proud to regularly partner with the Small Business Administration providing training on a wide range of topics, including e-commerce and exporting.
As the crisis moves with incredible speed, we're all looking for the latest information and advice. Join this webinar and hear more from our partners at the SBA.
