A Verification Code is a security feature used to help authorize your payment card transaction (for example a debit or credit card), and protect against fraud. The location of this non-embossed code will vary. Below are a few examples.
On a Visa®, MasterCard®, or Discover® card, the verification number is the three digits to the right of the card number in the signature area on the back of the card.
On an American Express® card, the verification number is the four digits printed on the front of the card above the card number.
