How much value should I declare on my packages?

How much value should I declare on my packages?

UPS's liability is limited to US$100.00 for loss or damage on domestic or international packages with no declared value. If the value of your goods exceeds US$100.00, you can declare a higher value, up to US$50,000.00 per package, by entering the declared value and paying an additional charge. The only exception to the $50,000 per package limit is for a package eligible for an Enhanced Maximum declared value of $70,000 per package. To be eligible for an Enhanced Maximum, the package must be a US domestic shipment, scheduled for pickup by UPS, shipped using next day service, processed for shipment using a UPS shipping system, and must not contain hazardous materials or perishables.

Determine the amount it would cost you to replace the item you're shipping by referencing an invoice, sales receipt, appraisal, or the value of a "like" item that can be verified. This amount is your declared value.
