What is the difference between UPS Worldwide Economy DDP and DDU?

Both DDP and DDU options are available with the UPS Worldwide Economy service. Shippers may use only the option(s) outlined in their UPS Worldwide Economy agreement, and rates will vary based on the option selected.

For shipments sent using the DDP option, packages are delivered through the UPS Worldwide Economy network, and the shipper is responsible for paying duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees in addition to standard rates and applicable charges.

For shipments sent using the DDU option, duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees are collected from the recipient at the time of delivery.

Effective 17 August 2025, changes will be made to some additional services and charges:

  • The Address Correction accessorial for all eligible Worldwide Economy origins will be updated to match the Address Correction rate currently applied to eligible parcels across all countries, as specified in the origin country’s Service guide on the Zones and Rates page on ups.com. The charge will be billed per package.
  • The Other Government Department (OGD) Assessorial Fee will apply to packages exported from 29 origins to the U.S. and/or Canada that require additional clearance from government agencies.
  • Please refer to the Other Government Department (OGD) Assessorial Fee PDF for the applicable fee in your local currency.
