This contractual, fee-based service ensures that the established relationship with a customs broker remains in place while the importer works with UPS to save time and increase efficiencies in shipping and customs processing. Using UPS Broker of Choice enables importers to reduce fees and errors incurred while using multiple customs clearance processes. Importers have two options:
An account number is invalid if it is not the correct account number for the bill-to party, or if it is the account number for a consignee or third party who fails to pay the shipping charges:

Extended Area Surcharge
UPS provides a pickup delivery service in extended, as well as urban, areas. An additional charge applies for each shipment that is picked up or delivered in an extended area.
Additional delivery attempts may have additional charges.
UPS will send you an invoice for the services we have provided. In the event that an invoice is overdue, UPS will charge a late payment surcharge. The relevant amount will appear on your next UPS bill. This surcharge is in addition to any legal rights and remedies available to UPS.
Packages with an actual weight of more than 150 pounds (70 kg), or that exceed 108 inches (274 cm) in length or a total of 157 inches (400 cm) in length and girth combined, as measured to determine their billable weight, are not accepted for transportation. These packages are subject to an Over Maximum Limits surcharge, in addition to all other applicable charges, if found in the UPS small package system.
A shipper or consignee may request that UPS notify the consignee prior to submission of an import shipment to customs so that the importer may validate the classification, valuation, or other import information. An additional fee per shipment will be billed to the importer or to the shipper when the shipper is selected as the payer of the duties and taxes for the shipment.
UPS will, at its sole discretion, and whether or not the UPS International Dangerous Goods program applies, charge a surcharge for any costs, expenses, damages or losses, including but not limited to the expense of returning the shipment to Shipper and any additional administrative cost incurred by UPS in connection with any incidence of non-compliance. This surcharge is without prejudice to any other relief or remedy UPS is entitled to.
UPS Paperless Invoice allows customers using a UPS online shipping system (for example, Worldship®, UPS Campus Ship, and UPS Internet Shipping) to electronically submit commercial invoice data for clearance. Depending on country-specific customs regulations, this may eliminate the need to affix hard copies of the invoice to the shipment and reduces the possibility of errors or shipment delays due to missing documentation.
This service is offered on a contractual basis and there is no charge incurred.
Additional charges may apply for complex customs clearance procedures, which include, but are not limited to, the following:
Packages rejected by the consignee, or that cannot be delivered due to causes beyond the control of UPS, will be held by UPS. The shipper will then be contacted for further instructions. The UPS service guarantee does not apply to Undeliverable Packages that are returned to the sender. An undeliverable returns surcharge will be applied in addition to other applicable charges. See table above for Special Handling of Undeliverable Packages rate.
A surcharge will be imposed for urgent shipments sent via UPS Worldwide Express Plus. Please refer to the above Additional Charges table for more information.
UPS provides delivery service to residential addresses as well as business addresses. A residential delivery is one made to a home, including a business operating out of a home. For each residential delivery, an additional charge per shipment applies.
With UPS FTZ Facilitator, importers and exporters have the ability to use UPS to transport international shipments "in-bond" to and from a global Free/Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). This service is available for shipments using UPS Worldwide Express Plus, UPS Worldwide Express, UPS Worldwide Express Freight Services, UPS Worldwide Express Saver, and UPS Worldwide Expedited.
This contractual, fee-based service allows the shipment of goods to move to or from an FTZ without using other transportation providers. Using UPS as a single source enables importers and exporters to increase visibility and tracking and minimise the chance for errors and costs associated with utilising multiple transportation providers.
Importers will choose UPS FTZ Facilitator to direct shipments to be delivered, in-bond, to a designated FTZ rather than being cleared through customs. Exporters will choose UPS FTZ Facilitator to ship goods in-bond from an FTZ to an international destination.
An additional handling fee that would be charged on pallets that exceed the specific dimensions.
Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety or property if not handled and shipped in a proper manner. There are various rules, regulations and responsibilities governing the transportation of dangerous goods across international borders.
UPS offers a contractual service which ensures dangerous goods shipments are handled and shipped in accordance with international and domestic regulations via our global network.
The service is offered at a surcharge per package. For a detailed listing of UPS acceptable classes and commodities of dangerous goods, please contact our Customer Service Representative.
A warehouse storage charge will apply if a shipment is not cleared through customs within 4 calendar days. The charges will be calculated from the 5th day and will apply unless the delay is due to the fault of UPS.
Consignees who do not require the full suite of UPS Broker of Choice® services may still, on an ad hoc basis, select their own customs broker for customs clearance of their UPS international shipments. UPS will transfer any customs clearance information and documents it has received from the shipper to the consignee or its appointed third-party broker. A charge per shipment applies.
A shipper or consignee may request UPS to submit clearance documents and/or other additional documents to government agencies other than customs that regulate and control entry of certain commodities into the country. An additional fee per shipment applies.
As part of UPS’s sustainability initiatives, a surcharge will be imposed on MAWB order per a piece in a bid to encourage customers to switch to digital shipping solutions and contribute towards a greener supply chain. The surcharge will be collected from the requestor at the time of MAWB delivery.
At shipper’s or consignee’s request, UPS may assist to open and inspect their shipment to retrieve specific information relating to the goods therein (e.g. serial number, brand name, country of origin). A per package fee will apply.
UPS may be required to add or modify data declared to customs authorities or other government agencies for clearance purposes based on evidence gathered from or confirmed by the importer or exporter and only upon request by customs authorities, other government agencies or at the request of the shipper or consignee. A per shipment fee will apply.
Shipments that are tendered to UPS in contravention of or not in compliance with applicable laws and regulations or UPS’s terms and conditions of service or contractual service (including, but not limited to, prohibited shipments or shipments that UPS does not accept or regularly provide service for without an exception) are subject to a fee.
This fee is without prejudice and in addition to the shipper’s responsibility for all other sums that UPS may incur and claims against UPS resulting from the contravention or non-compliance.
A Large Package Surcharge will be applied to each UPS package when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 300 cm, but does not exceed the maximum UPS size of 400 cm.
Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 40 kg in addition to the Large Package Surcharge.
An Additional Handling charge will not be assessed when a Large Package Surcharge is applied.
