Identification Requirements
What are the ID requirements for tendering a shipment to UPS?
-
To prevent our logistics network from being misused to support illicit trade, UPS is enhancing its security measures for shippers who do not hold UPS accounts.
-
UPS requires that:
- your full name and ID number be recorded in relation to your shipment; and
- you present a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g. ID card or passport) to our shipping outlet (e.g. operations facilities or customer service centre) staff to verify the information recorded; and
- your package must remain open when presented to our shipping outlet staff to visually verify its contents as against your printed description of its contents.
-
We reserve our rights to decline your shipment should you fail or refuse to meet any one of these 3 requirements above.
-
Note: We are entitled under applicable law, including the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, to request this information. This record will be destroyed fourteen (14) days from the date of your shipment. We will not take a copy of your ID. Once contents are visually verified, your package may be sealed for shipment.
