Italy is a founding member of the European Union, the third largest economy in the Eurozone and one of the top 10 UK trading partners in terms of export sales. With cities like Milan, Rome and Naples being one of the most popular destinations for UK shippers and regions like Lombardia, Lazio and Campania, representing a high density of businesses.
The country plays an active role in the World Trade Organisation, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
It is importing and exporting well over $400B worth of products every year – some of the main exported commodities include engineering products, textiles and clothing, and production machinery.

As of 1st January 2021, shipments to Italy require a commercial invoice and other export documentation as they have to clear customs like any other export shipment. Read everything you need to know about clearing customs further down on this page, and you can refer to the EU Trade Helpdesk as your guide to import rules and taxes in European markets.

Any of our Express services include a money-back guarantee at no extra cost. With this, you receive an extra commitment on the delivery time and an added assurance that, if your parcel arrives late, the shipping costs will be refunded or credited. Additionally, your shipments automatically include basic coverage for loss or damage for up to £60. Should you wish to insure your shipment further (up to £1000), you can do so for only £5 incl. VAT.
All our services are fully tracked across country borders and you can check on your parcel’s status at any time at no extra cost. Just the same, your customers at the other end of the shipment can track them as well for free, allowing them to know when they can expect your goods.
Your customers might not have time to sit at home all day to receive their parcels. Ship them to a conveniently located collection point, also known as UPS Access Point, so they can pick them up whenever it suits them.
Our UPS Access Point network includes local shops around the neighbourhood where you can drop off and collect parcels. This network is continuously growing in Europe, making it even easier to serve your customers outside of the UK. And not only that – you also save £2.00 VAT incl. when you send your parcels to a UPS Access Point location.
Of course sending a parcel to a UPS Access Point location isn’t all you can do. You can also drop off your shipments at one of the participating stores near you.
Since Brexit has come into effect since 1 January 2021, a shipment to Italy is treated as any other worldwide shipment. In order to export into the EU, you will first need an Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI number). This unique ID is used to track and register customs information in the EU because the shipment has to clear customs. This also means that additional documentation such as a commercial invoice will be required the shipment may be subject to additional export fees and duties.
