Large Package Surcharge

A Large Package Surcharge will be applied to each UPS package when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 330cm, but does not exceed the maximum UPS size of 419cm.

Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 40 kg in addition to the Large Package Surcharge.

An Additional Handling charge will not be assessed when a Large Package Surcharge is applied.

Missing or Invalid Account Number Fee

An account number is invalid if it is not the correct account number for the bill-to party, or if it is the account number for a consignee or third party who fails to pay the shipping charges.

  • A charge per shipment will be assessed for domestic (if available) and international shipments with a missing or invalid payer account number. Additionally, if the consignee or third party fails to pay the shipping charges, the original shipper will be billed a refusal fee plus the shipping charges.

Over Maximum Limits

Packages with an actual weight of more than 150 pounds (70 kg), or that exceed 108 inches (274 cm) in length or a total of 165 inches (419 cm) in length and girth combined, as measured to determine their billable weight, are not accepted for transportation. These packages are subject to an Over Maximum Limits surcharge, in addition to all other applicable charges, if found in the UPS small package system. Packages exceeding 165 inches (419 cm) in length and girth combined are also subject to the Large Package Surcharge.

Entry Fee

When a shipment is imported into the country, if you are a registered Importer for VAT payment, UPS will prepare the import clearance on your behalf. This process involves checking the Commercial Invoice submitted with the goods and completing entry preparation procedures required by Customs and Tax authorities, including the calculation of the applicable duties and taxes for each type of commodity included in the shipment and the lodging of the entry to Customs to get the package released.

UPS will charge an Entry Preparation Clearance fee to cover the cost of additional handling, administration and provision of facilities for Customs clearance of packages.

Self Clearance

Importers who want the control and the enhanced compliance of self-clearance can request UPS to forward all the necessary customs data to lodge a self-clearance declaration on imported goods. UPS will charge a fee to the importer to cover the additional administrative costs to perform such process.

Address Correction

If a mistake has been made in the address, we will make every reasonable effort to find the correct address and deliver the shipment if it is within the same destination country. An additional charge for this service will be billed to the shipper. You can view the address correction charges in the Additional Charges table.

Brokerage Services

UPS Brokerage services are provided at no extra cost for routine customs clearance. Our aim is always to provide the one-step, seamless process and quick customs clearance that is crucial to on-time delivery. Clearance preparation begins while your shipment is still in transit because of the advance notice feature on the UPS network. Government regulations require specific documentation for international shipments, and UPS provides expert services for the preparation of complete and accurate export documentation. We offer optional customs services to help you prevent unpredicted delays to your shipment. Some of these services are subject to additional charges. Please see these charges in the Additional Charges table.

Additional charges that may apply for customs clearance procedures include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Clearance procedures involving a government agency other than customs
  • Transit procedure
  • Storage
  • Customs inspection
  • Border inspection post charges
  • Shipments cleared by a third party

For full details, contact your UPS representative. All supplements and additional charges are exclusive of tax.

UPS carbon neutral

UPS carbon neutral is an option for shippers who are conscious about their climate impact and are doing something positive about it. Using UPS carbon neutral lets you demonstrate your commitment to climate change, and enables you and your package recipients to share in that commitment. When you select UPS carbon neutral, a flat fee will be added to your bill for each package selected.

Currency Conversion

Charges to a payer's account in a foreign currency will be converted to the payer's currency using a weekly exchange rate secured through major money centre banks.

Disbursements

UPS customs brokers are experienced with complex commercial shipments. Electronic transmissions of shipment data helps speed customs clearance. UPS may prepay duties, taxes and other government charges on behalf of the payer. Disbursement charges are noted in the Additional Charges Table.

Extended Area and Remote Area Surcharges

Extended Area Surcharge
UPS provides a collection or delivery service in extended, as well as urban, areas. An additional charge applies for each shipment that is collected or delivered in an extended area.

Remote Area Surcharge
This surcharge is applied for delivery to or collection from an area beyond UPS extended areas, which are less accessible for collections and deliveries (domestic and international services).

Duty and Tax Forwarding Charge

This charge is for shipments outside the EU, when the payer of duties and taxes is not located in the destination country. It is billed to the party who pays the transportation charges.

Interest on Late Payment

UPS will send you an invoice for the services we have provided. The invoice will stipulate a date for payment. If UPS does not receive payment on or before that date we reserve the right to charge you interest. The rate of interest, which is determined by prevailing rates, will be indicated on the invoice.

Late Payment Fee

UPS will send you an invoice for the services provided. In the event that payment of an invoice is overdue, UPS may charge a late payment fee. The relevant amount will appear on your next UPS bill. This fee is in addition to any interest charges and legal rights and remedies available to UPS.

On-Call Collection

You can have your shipment picked up from your home or office by scheduling a collection service online at ups.com or by calling 03457 877 877. UPS will pick up all packages with a single collection service request. A collection service may be scheduled for the same day or a future day.

On-call collection service charge applies for Electronic Return Label, Print Return Label, and regular or alternate address pickup. Cash payments are available for on-call collection service.
Charges differ based on the collection service request type:
- Same Day by Phone
- Same Day on the Web
- Future Day by Phone
- Future Day on the Web

This charge does not apply to:
- Return package collections included in the UPS 1 Attempt and UPS 3 Attempts Returns Plus services.
- Collections containing international shipments to destinations outside the European Union within the pickup stop

Note: UPS Worldwide Express Freight® collection or drop-off can either be scheduled at ups.com or by calling UPS. UPS Worldwide Express Freight collections cannot be combined with UPS Standard or Express small package collections.

Oversize Pallet Charge

Depending on origin and destination, this surcharge may apply to certain UPS Worldwide Express Freight shipments. To determine if a particular origin or destination has an oversize pallet limit, please visit www.ups.com/worldwideexpressfreight.

Residential Delivery Service

UPS provides delivery service to residential addresses as well as business addresses. A residential delivery is one made to a home, including a business operating out of a home. For each residential delivery, an additional charge per shipment applies.

Adult Signature Required

Use "Adult Signature Required" to prevent minors from accepting deliveries of goods for legal or other reasons. This may apply to alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, but also to goods that you prefer an adult to receive.

Signature Required

Normally, UPS requires the signature of the receiver for all deliveries. As an exception, deliveries in certain countries are allowed on "Driver release" (delivery in a location in the receiver's premises without the need for a signature) or on "Letter box release". Letter box release is a secured release by a service provider which will allow residential packages to be left in a safe letter box without a signature.

Use Signature Required to prevent the use of "Driver Release" or "Letter Box Release" in applicable countries.

Special Handling of Undeliverable Shipments

When UPS has taken measures to try to deliver any Worldwide shipments, but has been unsuccessful, we will process your shipment acting on your instructions. The transportation cost and a surcharge will be charged to the shipper for the processing of each such undeliverable shipment. Please see the Additional Charges table for pricing information.

For all shipments within the EU and within your country, we will automatically return your shipment by UPS Standard service (where available). Transportation and fuel charges will apply for the return.

Taxes

All our additional charges and optional service charges are exclusive of taxes. Where applicable, value added tax (V.A.T.) will be chargeable at the standard rate.

Weekly Service Charge

A UPS driver will visit you once a workday to collect your shipments. A weekly service charge will apply.

Goods in Transit

Member nations of the EU have a single market, which allows the movement of goods in free circulation between its member states. Goods in free circulation no longer require any documentation for customs clearance when moving from one member state to another.

If the goods are not in free circulation, such as goods which have been placed in bond without clearance through customs into the EU, they will require valid transit documentation, including an invoice (Goods in Transit). The shipper must supply a valid transit document for movement of the goods from the collection address to the UPS export site. UPS will undertake to perform transit formalities required for the movement of the goods from their first export site in the origin country, until their arrival at the UPS import site in the destination country. An additional charge per transit shipment will apply for Express Plus, Express, and Express Saver shipments within the EU. You can find this charge in the Additional Charges table.

Paper Invoice Fee

UPS will send you all invoices via your preferred method. From August 6th 2018, if you have a UPS account number and do not choose to receive your invoice electronically, you will be charged a fee for each paper invoice sent.

Additional Handling Charge

Additional Handling applies to the following:

  • Any article that is encased in an outside shipping container made of metal or wood
  • Any cylindrical item, such as a barrel, drum, pail, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container
  • From 6th August 2018, any package with the longest side exceeding 100cm (39.5"), or a second-longest side exceeding 76cm (30")
  • Any package with an actual weight greater than 70 pounds (32 kg)
  • Each package in a shipment where the average weight per package is greater than 70 pounds (32 kg) and the weight for each package is not specified on the source document or the UPS automated shipping system used

UPS also reserves the right to assess the Additional Handling Charge for any package that, in UPS's sole discretion, requires special handling.

In consideration of the additional handling required on our part, and subsequent potential delays in processing these shipments, UPS does not provide a money-back guarantee for them. UPS does, therefore, not refund the shipping charges if shipments requiring additional handling are not delivered by the time normally scheduled for such shipment.
