How can I use an electronic scale when shipping in UPS Internet Shipping and UPS CampusShip?
If you have a UPS-approved scale, you can connect your scale to a laptop or desktop computer to expedite the shipping process. You will need to set your shipping preferences to activate the scale.

In UPS Internet Shipping, follow the instructions below to set your preferences:

  1. Log into My UPS by selecting the Login link at the top of the page.
  2. Go to the Shipping tab at the top of the page.
  3. Select Set Preferences.
  4. Expand the Shipping Options section by selecting the View/Edit link.
  5. Select the Use My USB Scale checkbox to set the preference.
  6. Select Update.

In UPS CampusShip, follow the instructions below to set your preferences:

  1. Log into UPS CampusShip.
  2. Select Shipping Preferences in the left navigation.
  3. Expand the Shipping Options section by selecting the View/Edit link.
  4. Select the Use My USB Scale checkbox to set the preference.
  5. Select Update.

Once you have set your preference to accept a scale, you must return to the Create a Shipment page and authorize the installation of a downloaded component. Note: If you are in UPS CampusShip, you will automatically be returned to Create a Shipment. Upon completion, the package weight will automatically appear in the Weight field and you will see a Weigh It button. Select the Weigh It button to capture the current scale reading.

If you have multiple packages to ship and you wish to enter package information individually, choose this option and select Next. You will be directed to a new page where you will enter information for each package. On this page, the Weight field is not updated automatically; instead you must select the Weigh It button next to each Weight field to weigh each package individually.
