MUMBAI, May 29, 2012 - UPS (NYSE: UPS) has announced the appointment of Mark Martyn-Fisher as Managing Director of UPS India. He replaces Mark Khambatta who joins the UPS Asia Pacific strategy team which has oversight of UPS's long term development within the region.

Martyn-Fisher joins the UPS India team with over 30 years of international management experience, the past 13 of which spent with UPS. In his new role, Mark will oversee UPS's express and supply chain operations in India This includes marketing, business development, international trade services, industrial engineering, human resources, customer service, security, finance & accounting, supply chain solutions as well as ocean, air & ground operations.

Mark joined UPS in 1999 as managing director of UPS in Nigeria and in 2001 he expanded his role to include UPS's West Africa operations. In 2005, his responsibilities were further extended to include the entire Sub-Saharan Africa, where he managed UPS's own operations as well as a network of agents who represented UPS.

In 2009, he left Africa to become the operations director of the UPS Turkey, Middle East & Central Asia district.

"This appointment reflects the significance of India in the global marketplace.  India is amongst the fastest growing markets in the world today and as one of the more senior leaders at UPS who has worked across various geographies, Mark's cumulative knowledge and experience in the logistics industry will provide invaluable resources and direction to our customers", said KK Leung, president, UPS South Asia district, "In addition to his experience with UPS, Mark's expertise in international trade and his leadership, vision and customer-driven focus makes him well suited for this role."  

UPS India operates 19 facilities locally (Ahmedabad, Agra, Bangalore, Baroda, Kochi, Gurgaon, Kanpur, Karur, Panipat, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Moradabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Tirupur) and serves 8 airports namely Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Kochi, Ahmedabad, & Hyderabad.  Over the past several years, UPS has invested heavily in building its air freight services and acquired capabilities and expertise, integrated global networks, and implemented new performance standards and technology to increase overall operational capacity.
