Customs Announcement in China (Announcement No. 33)
Updated Thursday, July 1, 2010
With immediate effect, the Chinese Customs Authorities have reinforced regulations which will apply to all import and export shipments to and from China.
Except for documents and personal effects, all other shipments require an Importer/ Exporter Customs Registration Code (a 10-digit customs code) to be provided by the importer or exporter for customs declaration. (In the absence of a Customs registered code, please engage a registered agent authorised to act as the importer or exporter for your shipments.)
The reinforced regulation takes effect on all shipments with the H.S. code, and the appropriate customs duty, VAT and tax may be charged. This includes samples and advertising articles valued at RMB 400 and below, which were previously duty-exempted, but are now taxable. (For shippers in China, please refer to http://www.customs.gov.cn/default.aspx?tabid=9409 for H.S. code of your items for shipping.)
This may result in a longer clearance time for shipments, and may cause delays to your shipments.*
