Preparing to Ship Online
The Do-it-yourself Shipper
Doing some things yourself can be great. You get that feeling of control and accomplishment. Believe it or not, shipping online can feel that way too.
Creating a Shipment Online
UPS Internet Shipping is a fast, convenient way to schedule a shipment. You can easily compare service options and create shipping labels. When you login, you 'll even be able to set preferences and see a history of all your shipments.
Before you begin your online shipment, make sure you're able to answer these questions:
- What are the shipper's and the recipient's address and telephone number?
Will you use your own packaging or a UPS box or envelope?
How fast do you need your package shipped and how would you like to pay?
Do you need to add a shipment reference? If you're shipping multiple packages to the same address, it's helpful to add a shipment reference for each so you can distinguish between packages. Shipment reference numbers can contain a mix of numbers and letters, but can be as straightforward as "Cookies for Dad."
Would you like to schedule a collection, give your package to your UPS driver, or drop off your package at a UPS Location?
Knowing the answers ahead of time will make creating a shipment simple. From UPS Internet Shipping, you'll be able to select any of the available shipping options at the best price for you. Once you complete the online form, you can print out a label and affix it to your package. Then you can request a collection or bring your package to a UPS location.
Be Remembered with My UPS
To get the most from your online shipping experience, register for a My UPS login. You'll be able to save and manage your addresses and set up frequently used shipping and payment options as preferences. Creating a shipment is much faster when you've got all your frequently used addresses available in one place. If you're a frequent shipper, you may be interested in importing your Microsoft Outlook® addresses or setting preferences for collection times or shipping history too.
Opening a UPS Account
Opening an account is a step beyond registering for My UPS. If you find yourself shipping many packages a month, and you need to bill other parties for shipping, you can save time by establishing your own UPS account for billing your shipping charges and services.
Drop off Packages at a Time and Place That Suits Your Schedule
Shipping online is easy - and finding a place that's convenient for you to drop off your package can be easy too.
Our UPS Access Point™ network includes independently owned and operated businesses - such as local grocery and other shops in select areas - where you can drop off your shipments.
With locations open during weekend and evening hours, you can drop off your packages where and when you need it.
Sometimes it's just more convenient to have a driver come to you and collect your shipment. Need to request a collection? It doesn't cost a lot.
