UPS Capital Expands Trade Protection And Financial Offerings Within Brazil
Press Release

São Paulo, May 7, 2012 - UPS Capital™, the financial services arm of UPS (NYSE: UPS), today announced improvements to its South American presence through an expansion of service offerings and personnel and the establishment of an insurance broker business here in São Paulo, Brazil.

With a combination of in-country representatives and employees, UPS Capital will be able to offer cargo insurance through its insurance broker affiliate, UPS Capital Corretora de Seguros (Brasil) Limitada*, and continue to offer import financing for Brazilian companies through its UPS Capital Business Credit™ affiliate.

This unique combination of services is designed to improve trade.  By accelerating the flow of funds and aligning it with UPS's worldwide logistics capabilities that include freight, distribution and small package shipments, UPS Capital can develop integrated solutions not offered by other transportation providers.  Financing and transporting goods through one worldwide provider, UPS, can help protect both buyers and sellers from the complexities and risks associated with global trade.

"This increased commitment in Brazil is part of UPS Capital's Latin America strategy, which includes UPS Capital Business Credit's representative offices in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico," said Jim Fortsch, managing director for the Americas Region for UPS Capital.  "We have enjoyed strong growth in Brazil over the last several years and adding new trade mitigation solutions is a natural extension of this business."

"This expansion of UPS Capital in Brazil comes at a very favorable moment in which Brazilian companies have the opportunity to strengthen their presence in global trade but require a reliable partner to realize this growth," added Nadir Moreno, country manager for UPS Brazil.  "The financing and insurance services offered through various UPS Capital subsidiaries bring together UPS's reputable brand and portfolio and further strengthens the breadth of services we offer in the country."

UPS Capital companies have offices throughout the U.S. as well as operations in several other countries. Products include: global trade finance; loans backed by the Export Credit Agencies of the United States, Germany, and Italy; trade protection services, and payment-acceleration services.
