Implementation of Regulation for Abandoned Goods in Philippines

The Philippines Bureau of Customs has implemented the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in January 2019, adjusting the notice period from 30 days to 7 days to declare unclaimed goods as abandoned. As such, all import shipments to the Philippines must be cleared within 7 days after discharge to prevent shipment abandonment.

To ensure smooth customs clearance, please be reminded to comply with the following:

  1. Shippers to accurately input consignees’ name and address
  2. Shippers to ensure the information is consistent across the shipping invoice and the Inward Cargo Manifest form
  3. Consignees to provide the following pertinent documents to clear import shipments:
    - Import Permit
    - Business Registration or Certificate of Registration with Bureau of Customs
  4. Consignees to make payment for duties and taxes within the 7 days’ notice period.

For more information on the above, please contact your local Account Representative or Customer Service Representative.
