China, Dec 18, 2017 – UPS (NYSE:UPS) will continue to sponsor the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). The logistics integrator renews its appointment as the “Chinese Men’s Basketball Professional League Official Logistics and Express Delivery Sponsor” from 2017 to 2019.
The 2017-2018 season is the 10th anniversary of UPS’s sponsorship of the CBA, the longest-running of any current CBA official sponsorship. With an estimated fan base of 450 million and a total of 20 clubs that compete in over 400 games per season, China's basketball market has shown huge potential to become the biggest in the world.
“For years, UPS has maintained a solid commitment to the development of sports in China, and sponsoring the CBA is one of the ways that we continue to support this goal,” said Harld Peters, President of UPS China. “As basketball continues to gain popularity in China, UPS will continue to look for new opportunities to serve basketball fans and promote this exciting sport.”
Peters continued: “The sponsorship is also a direct reflection of UPS’s multi-year investment and growth plan to expand its geographical presence in support of China’s globalization push and economic modernization. Just recently, we introduced service enhancements across 20 Chinese cities to better assist more businesses to connect with global markets.”

As China continues to focus on strengthening its position on the global sporting stage, UPS and CBA will work together to expand the influence of China’s basketball scene to a new level by raising its attraction to professional athletes and keen audiences around the globe.
As part of the sponsorship, the UPS logo will appear on game jerseys and on CBA’s official marketing platforms. UPS will also produce in-stadium activities at the CBA League games to create more excitement and fun for basketball fans.
The announcement is a further expansion of UPS’s global sponsorship platform. This includes the 2008 Beijing Olympics, The Masters, Asia-Pacific Amateur and Open Championship golf tournaments since 2014, and the Scuderia Ferrari team in the Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2013.
