General Requirements

General Requirements for Shipping Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials

TDG, DOT and IATA regulations all require that a person may offer or accept a dangerous good for transportation in commerce only if the material is properly prepared for transportation.

However, UPS is unable to accept all types of dangerous goods. Those materials shown as “Forbidden” or “Not Accepted” in the applicable UPS Chemical Table must not be offered to UPS. The entry “Forbidden” means that Transport Canada, the DOT or IATA will not allow the transport of the material, while the entry “Not Accepted” means that UPS will not transport that specific material due to safety concerns.

UPS allows a maximum of three chemically compatible dangerous goods in one package.
