What are the identification requirements for picking up a package from a UPS Access Point location?

You'll need one of the following forms of identification to collect your package at a UPS Access Point location:

  • Option 1: Present a valid, government-issued ID, such as a driver's license, passport, or national ID card. The full name on the ID must match that of the package label.
  • Option 2: Present a government-issued photo ID along with your shipper-provided package release code (if required).*

If someone else is collecting on your behalf, he/she has to present your ID based on the above criteria as well as his/her own ID. The UPS Access Point location will check their signature, name and type of IDs presented for record purposes. Not all packages can be collected by a third party.

If your shipper provides a package release code for your delivery, your friend or family member can present their photo ID and the code to collect your package.*

*Note: While we'll notify you on shipment notifications or tracking status updates if you need a code to collect your package, your shipper will provide the code directly to you.The package release code is a 4-6 digit numerical code that is provided by the shipper and is different from the tracking number.
