Exploring WorldShip: Providing Shipment Notifications to Customers
Using Quantum View Notify in WorldShip you can provide up to five recipients with an email notification detailing the status of a shipment or parcel. There are three types of notification that you can add to a parcel or shipment:
- Shipment Notification – Alert the recipient when UPS receives the parcel or shipment information
- Delivery Notification – Alert the recipient about the delivery of a shipment, including the date, time and name of the recipient
- Exception Notification – Alert the recipient when a delivery date has been rescheduled. In multi-piece shipments, recipient(s) receive one email per parcel with an exception
To use this feature, Select Quantum View Notify in the Options or the Shipments tab in the main Shipping Window, click the Recipients button to specify recipients, type of notification and add a memo if desired. For more information, see Request QVN Notification in WorldShip Guide.
Ensuring you have Accurate Rates in WorldShip
To stay up-to-date with the latest rate and service data elements from UPS, it is encouraged to keep your WorldShip application upgraded to the latest version. When using a version of WorldShip other than the current year’s release, it is good to be aware of UPS’ data object distribution policy:
- Older than 1 year behind: Not eligible to receive quarterly rate updates from UPS. However, the latest version of last year’s release is eligible to get December/January rates is an exception.
- Older than 2 years behind: Not eligible to receive quarterly rate and other data updates such as Peak Season Surcharge, Fuel Surcharge, periodic accessorials, and other service-related distributions from UPS.
While these limitations do not prevent you from processing shipment using WorldShip, you may experience an inaccurate shipping rate and the potential for post-manifest adjustments on your invoice if using an outdated version. Upgrading to the latest version ensures you ship with accurate rates every time.
