You can use Laser 8½" x 11" or Laser 8½" x 11" (2 Labels per Page) (or local equivalent) stock to print labels with an extended area. The extended area (2 inches or local equivalent at either the top or the bottom) allows you to customize your labels with reference numbers.
To set up the laser label printer to print Laser 8½" x 11" or Laser 8½" x 11" (2 Labels per Page) (or local equivalent) labels with an extended area:
On the Tools menu, click System Preferences. The System Preferences Editor window appears.
On the Printing Setup tab, click the Label Printer Setup button. The Label Printer Setup window appears.
Under Printer, click the Change Label Printer button. The Printer Selection window appears.
Select your laser label printer and click the Select button. The Label Printer Setup window appears again.
Under Label Configuration:
Click the down arrow in the Label Stock Dimensions box and select Laser 8½ x 11 or Laser 8½ x 11 (2 Labels per Page) (or local equivalent).
Click the down
arrow in the Extended Area Usage box and select whether you want to print
reference numbers in the extended area of the label. Your choices are
(None) and Reference Numbers.
Tip: If you select reference numbers to print in the extended
area and then select the same reference numbers to print as part of the
label information (see step 6), those reference numbers will not print
in the extended area.
Click the Apply button. The Printing Setup tab in the System Preferences Editor window appears again.
On the Printing Setup tab:
Under Current Label Configuration, verify that Label Printer shows your printer, Label Stock Dimensions shows Laser 8½ x 11 or Laser 8½ x 11 (2 Labels per Page) (or local equivalent), and Extended Area Usage shows (None) or Reference Numbers.
Click the down arrow in each This Reference No. Prints on the Label box and select a reference number to appear on the label. If you want to print all numbers in the extended area, select (None Selected) in these boxes.
If you selected Reference Numbers for the extended area in step 5, you must type the reference numbers on the Reference tab in the Shipping window.
Click the Print Test Label button to make sure your printer is correctly set up for UPS WorldShip. If the label does not print correctly, recheck your configuration.
Tip: The reference numbers will not print on the test label; however, the reference numbers will print on a real label.
