Notes:
This task requires previous experience working with databases. Ask your technical staff for help if necessary.
Prerequisite: Create at least one 32-bit ODBC data source. See Administrative Tools in the Microsoft Control Panel.
To create a new map:
On the Import/Export Data menu, click Create/Edit Map. The Create or Edit an Import or Export Map window appears.
Under New Maps:
Select Export Data from WorldShip. (If you select the Export CSV check box, see Create or Edit an Export Map from WorldShip to a CSV-Formatted File.)
Select the type of data (such as Address, Commodity, or Shipment).
In the Name box, type the name you want to assign to the export map.
Click the Create button. The Select an ODBC Source window appears.
Select the ODBC
data source name (DSN). Make sure to select a DSN that points to an existing
database, and the database is structured according to the size and type
of data that will be put into it. For example, if you are exporting the
City field from WorldShip to a table created in Access called User_Data,
at least one field in your table must be able to hold up to 30 characters.
If needed, enter your user ID and password for this ODBC source.
Tips:
If you do not supply the required user name and password, the ODBC application asks for this information when WorldShip tries to connect to that database.
WorldShip does not encrypt your user ID or password when storing these items.
Click the OK button.
The Edit Export Map window appears.
The left side of the window displays the WorldShip data fields. The
right side displays the data fields in the ODBC data source you selected.
You must associate the WorldShip fields with the corresponding fields
in the ODBC data source. For example, if you export an address field,
UPS WorldShip can export the Street, City, State, and ZIP Code fields
in the correct ODBC format.
Make the first new field association:
Select a field on the WorldShip Fields tabs (Shipment Information, Ship To, Ship From, or Package).
Select the ODBC field on the right of the window that you want to associate with the WorldShip field.
Click the Connect
button. A 
displays beside each field and a summary line
in the What You Have Mapped So Far box shows the linked fields.
Repeat step 5 for
each field association. If you link several WorldShip fields to a single
ODBC field, a 
appears beside the ODBC field.
Make any necessary adjustments
to the export map.
Tips:
To remove
a field association, select both sides of the link in the WorldShip Fields
and ODBC Tables boxes and click the Disconnect button. Any or symbols are removed from those fields.
To quickly display both sides of a field association, scroll through the What You Have Mapped So Far box and select the association you want. The WorldShip Fields and ODBC Tables boxes display both sides of that field association.
To sort the entries in the tables by column, click any column title at the top, and the entries are sorted by that column. A small arrow shows how the column is currently sorted. An up arrow indicates ascending alphabetic or numeric order; a down arrow indicates descending alphabetic or numeric order.
When you are finished, click the OK button. WorldShip saves your export map.
To edit an existing map:
On the Import/Export Data menu, click Create/Edit Map. The Create or Edit an Import or Export Map window appears.
Select an existing map.
Click the Edit button. The
Edit Export Map window appears.
The left side of the window displays the WorldShip data fields. The
right side displays the data fields in the ODBC data source you selected.
You must associate the WorldShip fields with the corresponding fields
in the ODBC data source.
Continue with step 5 in the procedure above.
