Set Printing Setup System Preferences

Use the Printing Setup tab in the System Preferences Editor window to set up your system preferences to print labels and reports.

Notes:  

To set your printing setup system preferences:

  1. On the Tools menu, click System Preferences Editor. The System Preferences Editor window appears.

  2. Click the Printing Setup tab.

  3. Under Label Printer, click the Label Printer Setup and Print Test Label buttons to set up and test a label printer and stock. Once this setup is complete, your printer and stock configuration appear under Current Label Configuration. See Choose the Right Label Stock and Set Up a Label Printer.

  4. Also under Current Label Configuration, select the following to enable printing of doc and consignee labels as needed:

  5. If the Extended Area Usage box shows Doc Label, select the appropriate Doc Label and Consignee Label check boxes.

  6. If the Extended Area Usage box shows (None), select the appropriate Consignee Label check boxes.

  7. If you select the Print Freight Consignee Label check box, select either Per Handling Unit or Per Piece.

  1. Under Printer Setup, click the down arrow in the Select Printer box and select the type of printer (that is, Report, Invoice, or Dangerous Goods). Then, click the Printer Setup and Print Test Page buttons to set up and test the printer and stock. See Set Up a Report or an Invoice Printer.  

    Note:
    If you are printing Dangerous Goods documentation, select the Dangerous Goods tab, go to the Print Documents Using section, and select WorldShip or External System. For an external system, enter or browse to the location for exporting the Dangerous Goods information.

  1. Under Reference Numbers Printed on the Label, click the down arrow in each This Reference No. Prints on the Label box and select a reference number to print on the label. See Specify the Reference Numbers.

  2. Under Preferred Label Printing, click the down arrow in the Print Package Label box and select when you want to print the package labels:

  3. As You Complete Shipment - prints all package labels for a shipment after you process the shipment. This is the default. The status code XOFY appears on the status bar in the Shipping window.

    Tip:
    Distribution list processing and international shipments always use this preference. If you set a different preference and then process one of these types of shipments, WorldShip temporarily switches to this preference and switches back to your original preference after processing the shipments. The following message appears at the bottom in the Shipping window: "Your shipment processing mode has been changed."

  4. As You Process Each Package - prints the labels for each package as each package is complete. The status code PAYG appears on the status bar in the Shipping window.

  5. Ask User - prompts you to enter your preferred label printing choice each time you process a shipment. The status code ASK appears on the status bar in the Shipping window.

  1. Select the Print X of Y Values on Each Label check box as needed.

  2. If you selected As You Process Each Package in the Print Package Label box, the Print X of Y Values on Each Label check box becomes active. Select this check box to print the X of Y value on the package label as you process each package. The status code PGXY appears on the status bar in the Shipping window, and you must provide the total number of packages in the shipment each time you enter a shipment.

  3. If you selected As You Complete Shipment in the Print Package Label box, the Print X of Y Values on Each Label check box becomes inactive and selected.

  4. If you selected Ask User in the Print Package Label box, the Print X of Y Values on Each Label check box becomes inactive and clear.

  1. Select the Print Return Service/Import Control Receipt check box if you want to print the Return Service Customer Receipt for UPS Print Return Label, UPS Returns Exchange, and UPS Returns Pack and Collect shipments and the Import Control Receipt for UPS Print Label shipments. If you do not want to print these receipts, clear the Print Return Service/Import Control Receipt check box. See Generate Return Service Customer Receipts and Generate Import Control Receipts.

  2. Select the Print Shipment Instructions check box to print the Shipment Instructions.

  3. Select the Use Separate World Ease Printer check box if you want to use a secondary printer to print UPS World Ease labels.

  4. Do one of the following:

  5. Click the Apply button to accept the changes made on any System Preferences Editor tab and keep the System Preferences Editor window open.

  6. Click the OK button to accept the changes made on any System Preferences Editor tab and close the System Preferences Editor window.

  7. Click the Cancel button to remove changes made on any System Preferences Editor tab and close the System Preferences Editor window.
