Processing Mode
Two processing modes may be available as follows:
Shipment Entry - allows you to create a shipment quickly by entering the total shipment weight and the number of packages in the shipment instead of entering each package in a shipment individually. See Speed Up Processing with Shipment Entry Processing Mode. If this mode is active, the following occurs:
UPS WorldShip selects the All Packages Identical check box on the Service tab to indicate all packages in the shipment are identical in weight, dimensions, and shipment options, and divides the total shipment weight by the number of packages. If all packages are not identical, clear this check box to process the shipment in Package Entry processing mode (see below).
The left side of the Options tab shows shipment options only, and WorldShip changes the Additional Handling and Declared Value package options to shipment options.
The Number of Packages box on the Options tab does not appear for the Additional Handling shipment option because WorldShip applies Additional Handling to each package in the shipment.
A Dimensional Weight box under Shipment Details appears on the Detail tab. If you type a weight in this box, the package dimensions (that is, the Length, Width, and Height boxes) become active.
If you select 2nd Day Air for UPS Service and UPS Letter for Package Type, the weight will be enabled, and Dimensions and Navigation controls will be disabled for United States and Puerto Rico origin shipments. If you enter a weight that exceeds 1, a message will be displayed indicating that the letter will be rated as a package.
If you select UPS Tube, UPS Envelope, UPS PAK, UPS 10 KG Box, or UPS 25 KG Box in the Package Type box on the Detail tab, the Dimensional Weight box under Shipment Details does not appear.
The Number of Large Packages box on the Detail tab is replaced with the Large Package check box. Select this check box to apply Large Package to all packages in the shipment.
The Use on All Packages check boxes on the Reference tab are selected and inactive.
You can save the same functionality in a profile.
Package Entry - allows you to create a shipment using the Shipment Navigation Bar to enter shipment information for the individual packages in the shipment. See Use the Shipment Navigation Bar. If this mode is active, the following occurs:
The left side of the Options tab shows both shipment and package options.
The package dimensions (that is, the Length, Width, and Height boxes) on the Detail tab are active. The Dimensional Weight box under Shipment Details does not appear.
The Use on All Packages check boxes on the Reference tab are clear and active.
Notes:
The ability to select a processing mode requires your workstation to include one of the following:
One Trade Direct shipper with a destination CFS other than the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, or US Virgin Islands.
One non-Trade Direct shipper with an origin other than the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, or US Virgin Islands.
If the above requirement is not met, your workstation defaults to the Package Entry processing mode, which you cannot change.
If the above requirement is met, use the System Preferences Editor to select a processing mode. See Set Shipping System Preferences.
