| Christine leads global communications and brand management for one of the most recognized and trusted brands in the world. As the largest express transportation company in the world, having operations in 214 countries and more than 400,000 employees world-wide, UPS has provided logistic service to customers for over a century. Owens has global responsibility for Public Relations, Employee Communications, Customer Communications, Advertising and Brand Management. She is a member of UPS's Management Committee, the top tier of UPS executives. In 2006, Christine became the first person to hold her position, which was created in recognition of the importance of communications and brand management to the company's corporate strategy. In 2010, Christine led the launch of UPS's global communications platform "We Love Logistics," which focuses on UPS's ability to help companies of any size, industry or geography harness the power of logistics to drive growth and gain competitive leverage in the global marketplace. In her current position, she has extended the UPS brand's global presence through high-visibility sports sponsorships including the PGA European Tour and the Olympic Games, social media channels, and sustainability programs. She frequently speaks on the importance of employee engagement, the power of the brand in the marketplace as a competitive advantage, and the opportunities for women managers in global business. She was a founding supporter of UPS's internal program "Women's Leadership Development," which supports UPS women managers to develop professionally and personally. She served on the Illinois Governor's Commission on the Status of Women and also worked with Chicago Mayor Daley as an early adopter and implementer of the "Welfare to Work Program" and is a board member of the national Women Presidents' Organization. She is also on the board of directors for the National Council of La Raza and a trustee of The UPS Foundation. Christine earned a bachelor's degree in social science from Shippensburg University. The Philadelphia native began her career at UPS in 1979 as a part-time temporary helper during the holiday peak season, rising to full-time UPS driver and then through the operational ranks. Prior to her current position, Owens served as UPS's vice president for transportation where she directed the coordination, planning, and utilization of the UPS transportation network. |
