UPS was selected for the 2008 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), released by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
 

The CDP is a group that surveys the world's largest companies to obtain information on carbon emissions, identify goals for carbon reduction and gauge environmental-related risks and opportunities, and then reports them to institutional investors. The companies were asked questions in four major subject areas: Risks and Opportunities, Emissions Accounting, Performance Against Targets and Governance. Those selected have a high CDLI score, which measures their response to the survey and level of disclosure, along with the lowest carbon intensity score, a ratio of annual revenue compared to actual carbon emissions. View the entire CDLI report.

The award was based on factors such as volume, consistency and quality of business opportunities that a company grants to women- and minority-owned suppliers. Over 650,000 women- and minority-owned businesses had the opportunity to vote online. UPS was the sole transportation company on the list.

For the fourth consecutive year, UPS was named one of "40 Best Companies for Diversity" by Black Enterprise magazine. The company was recognized for demonstrating strength and outperforming its peers in senior management and supplier diversity. More than 1,000 publicly-traded companies were evaluated on business activities related to the participation of African Americans and members of other ethnic minority groups.

Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce named UPS its 2009 "Corporation of the Year" for its leadership in Hispanic business development. Earlier this year, The UPS Foundation, UPS's charitable arm, contributed $50,000 to the Hispanic American Center for Economic Development, the educational arm of GHCC, to help provide educational programs for Hispanic businesses in Georgia.

Top 25 Green Supply Chain Partners
 

UPS was among companies listed on Inbound Logistics' 25 Green Supply Chain Partners. The magazine recognized businesses for their supply chain sustainability and environmentally-friendly solutions. UPS was cited for pursing technologies and processes that reduce energy use and emissions. The company was particularly recognized for Worldport, the Louisville, Ky., air hub where UPS aircraft is parked directly next to the facility, eliminating the need to run ground tugs.

The non-ranking survey assesses companies based on economic, environmental and social sustainability factors, and recognizes leadership in such areas as corporate governance, risk and crisis management, environmental policy, corporate citizenship, human capital development, and talent attraction and retention, among others.

Corporate Equality Index - 100% Rating
 

For the third consecutive year, UPS achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) 2010 Corporate Equality Index. Each year, HRC rates U.S. corporations based on their policies and practices toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)employees and consumers, including transgender health benefits and domestic partner benefits. This year, 590 companies were evaluated on a scale from 0 to 100 percent; 305 achieved top ratings, compared to last year's 260. UPS Again Scores 100 on HRC's 2009 Corporate Equality Index
 

UPS again achieved the top rating of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2009 Corporate Equality Index. UPS remains the only company to obtain this rating in the Mail and Freight Delivery industry.

Human Rights Campaign, or HRC, is America's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization. The Corporate Equality Index is a tool used to measure how companies treat their GLBT employees, suppliers and customers.

The Atlanta Partners for Education awarded UPS and Fickett Elementary School with the 2008 Mentoring Partnership Award this week as part of its annual awards celebration highlighting high-caliber and creative partnerships between individual schools, Atlanta-area businesses, nonprofit, civic, religious, social and professional organizations.

The Mentoring Award category recognizes the partnership that develops one-to-one relationships between a student and an adult that fosters a caring, supportive environment which emphasizes the individual needs of the student.

UPS Tops Massachusetts Reputation List
 

UPS has been named #1 in for-profit enterprises and #2 overall in a recent Corporate Reputation Survey in Massachusetts. The survey asked 200 Massachusetts business executives to rate a select list of 74 Massachusetts-based companies and organizations that employ a large number of Massachusetts residents on six attributes - general reputation, products and services, social responsibility, ethics and corporate governance, workplace environment and financial stability. Last year UPS was ranked #17 overall.

The survey is conducted by the survey is conducted on behalf of Morrissey & Company by Opinion Dynamics Corporation, a national leader in market research, polling and consulting based in Waltham, Mass.

UPS Receives Recognition from Junior Achievement China
 

UPS China received the 2007 Fall Junior Achievement China Partnership Recognition Award from JA China for its contribution to the community. In September 2007, UPS China District H.R. conducted a JA migrant school workshop on international trade at Shanghai Jiading Xingzhi School. Most of the students were migrant workers' children. JA is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring young people through the organization and provision of free business and economics education programs.

UPS Wins 2008 Uptime Institute Green Enterprise IT Award
 

UPS was named winner of an Uptime Institute Green Enterprise IT Award. Presented by the Uptime Institute.

A work group at UPS's Windward Data Center in Alpharetta, GA was recognized for energy conservation measures implemented at their site. The group was honored in the the "Facilities Site Physical Infrastructure (Power and Cooling) Overhead" category.

The Uptime Institute is a research-based think tank and advisor on business and technology issues related to computing and energy efficiency.

UPS was named to PINK magazine's second annual list of Top Companies for Women. PINK asked America's leading companies nearly 100 questions related to women's advancement.  Among the questions were: the percentages of women among all employees, women among corporate executives, rate of retention for executive women among mid- and senior-level management, and women among the top fifth of payroll.

UPS Wins Top Award for Supporting Women-Owned Businesses
 

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) has named UPS to its "America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises." The award honors corporations for their world-class supplier diversity programs.

"These top 16 corporations demonstrate that buying from women results in innovation and growth," said Linda Denny, president and CEO of WBENC. "By implementing strategic, enterprise-wide supplier diversity programs, they are rewarded with outstanding products and services that benefit their customers and their shareholders."

UPS has been recognized by WBENC every year since the awards was created nine years ago. Only two other companies have that honor.

UPS topped the Atlanta Tribune's 2008 list of "Best Places for Minorities to Work." Companies were selected based on ways they utilize diversity to strengthen their workforces, including minority representation of the board of directors and amongst the 50 highest paid executives. UPS also made the magazine's top 10 list of companies for supplier diversity.

The National Coalition for Literacy has awarded The UPS Foundation the 2007 NCL Literacy Leadership Award. This award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to improving literacy in the United States. Award recipients have demonstrated a deep and sustained individual, organizational, or corporate commitment by supporting literacy across the lifespan on the local, state, and national level.

UPS named 2007 Green Cross for Safety Medal Recipient
 

The National Safety Council recognized UPS for its exemplary century-long commitment to workplace safety. UPS will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2007 and safety has been part of the company's leadership philosophy from the start. Today, UPS invests more than $300 million a year in safety-related training, including 26 formal UPS safety training courses taught in more than 1,700 facilities. UPS employees receive more than 1.3 million hours of safety-related training annually.

UPS to Receive 2007 Keep America Beautiful Vision for America Award
 

The 2006 Harris Interactive® RQSM survey ranked UPS as the nation's top company for people's "trust in the company to do the right thing in the event of a product/service problem, excellent customer service, and sincerity of corporate communications." For overall reputation, UPS ranked #7 among the 60 most visible companies in the United States.

The survey polled more than 20,000 respondents, who ranked companies' reputations based on 20 attributes in six categories: financial performance, social responsibility, workplace environment, products and services, vision and leadership, and emotional appeal.

In addition to the top rankings, UPS also was ranked in the top 4 in seven other reputation related categories: ethical standards, consistent corporate communications, distinctive corporate communications, correct and accurate information with corporate communications, easily recognizable corporate communications, corporate communications provides consistent messages and corporate communications that have a common look and feel.

UPS Supply Chain Solutions Ranked High Among "Green" Outsourcers
 

In the 2007 edition of an annual survey conducted to determine which supply chain and logistics company was environmentally friendly, UPS Supply Chain Solutions was a top vote getter in the services, supply chain and logistics outsourcing category.

The ranking was assigned to UPS by Clearwater, Florida-based outsourcing industry consulting firm Brown-Wilson Group. Survey participants included more than 20,000 people. Out of a possible 10 points, UPS Supply Chain Solutions earned 9.28 points.

The 2007 ranking also earned UPS the recognition to be included in the 2007 Black Book Green 50 report published by the consulting firm.

UPS Receives Care’s International Humanitarian Award for Corporate Philanthropy
 

CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, awarded its International Humanitarian Award for Corporate Philanthropy.

UPS has contributed more than $1,000,000 during a 14-year partnership that has supported CARE's work around the world. Since 1995, UPS has underwritten CARE's Emergency Transportation Shipping Fund. In addition, UPS has donated to CARE's emergency and relief efforts throughout the world, including Kosovo, Sudan, Angola, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lebanon, Haiti and Nicaragua.
