UPS SMS Tracking

With a wide range of time-definite services, UPS can deliver your shipments on time to any destination in the world. And with UPS SMS Tracking, you can access information on the status of your shipments quickly and efficiently when out of the office.

UPS SMS Tracking provides an added convenience of storing up to five tracking numbers in your wireless profile for quick and easy retrieval.

Before you can access UPS SMS, check these conditions:

  • Your mobile device and cellular plan must include the ability to either browse the Internet or send/receive SMS text messages.
  • You are in a digital coverage area (your carrier can provide digital coverage zones).
  • You have not blocked the Caller ID feature on your phone.
  • You created a My UPS account (if you don't already have one).
  • You created a UPS Wireless Profile and registered your mobile device telephone number.

If you elect not to create a wireless profile, you can still access certain features for non-registered users.

Saved Tracking Numbers (registered users only)

  1. Log in to your Wireless Profile using your ID and PIN, which you received when you registered your mobile telephone number.
  2. Select the Tracking link.
  3. Select the shipment you want to track from the list of saved tracking numbers in your profile, and receive an update instantly.

Non-Saved Tracking Numbers (non-registered users)


  1. Log in as Anonymous user.
  2. Select the Tracking link.
  3. Provide the complete 18-digit tracking number, beginning with 1Z, of the shipment you want to track to receive an update on your mobile device screen instantly.


Track by using Interactive SMS text messaging

One-Way Interactive SMS Text Messaging (registered users only)


  1. Call our toll-free Wireless Service number at 1-877-238-3635, and select option 1.
  2. Provide the last four digits of the tracking number or provide the complete 18-digit tracking number beginning with 1Z.
  3. Receive a SMS text message on your wireless device with the status of your shipment.

Two-Way Interactive SMS Text Messaging (registered users only)


  1. Create a SMS text message in the following format: TR + the position of your saved tracking numbers in your wireless profile. (Example of a correct entry: TR1)
  2. Send your SMS text message to MYUPS (69877).
  3. Receive a SMS text message on your wireless device with the status of your shipment.

To receive tracking status for tracking numbers you have not saved, follow these steps:

  1. Create a SMS text message in the following format: TR + the complete UPS tracking number.
    (Example of a correct entry: TR173X100012345678)
  2. Text the message to MYUPS (69877).
  3. Receive a SMS text message on your wireless device with the status of your shipment.
