Using Your Address Book
The My UPS Address Book is your personal database for up to 2,000 shipping addresses. It contains easy-to-use functionality designed to speed your shipping process. Here, learn how to import addresses from an external address book, create new addresses, and delete and edit old ones.


How To Select Addresses from an External Source
Before you can select addresses from your external address book, you must download and install the external address book plug-in from the Shipping Preferences page.

  1. Log in.
  2. Select the Shipping tab at the top of the page.
  3. Select Create a Shipment in the area at the left, and then select Set Preferences.
  4. Select Install External Address Book Plug In at the bottom of the page.

    Note: To install the External Address Book plug-in, you must have administrative rights for the Windows NT, 2000, and XP operating systems.


After you have downloaded and installed the plug-in, you will be able to select addresses from an external address book. To select addresses:

  1. Log in, and select the Shipping tab at the top of the page.
  2. Select Create a Shipment.
  3. On the Ship a Package page, select External Address Book.
  4. Select the sources you want to appear as external address book choices. Select the external address book in which the address is stored. This preference may be changed anytime.
  5. Select Update Display.
  6. If you have chosen Outlook, use the drop-down list to select the Outlook address book in which the address is stored. If you have chosen Act!, browse for the appropriate Act! database or file.
  7. If this is your first time selecting an address from an external address book, you can Create Address Book Mapping (optional). Follow the directions on the Map Fields page to change which default fields the information from your external address populates in your online shipping form. Use the menus to the right of each field name to control - or "map" - where the data from your external address book goes. When you are finished, select Update Mapping.

    Note:
    After changing address mappings, close and reopen the External Address Book window for changes to take effect.

  8. Search for the appropriate address by using the Search By menu for the Search For field.
  9. To save the address to your My UPS address book, select the box and name the entry.
  10. To import the address and immediately populate your Ship a Package form, select the Select button.

How To Create a New Personal Address
  1. Select Address Book at the top of the page.
  2. When the page opens, select Add Address.
  3. When the Address Information page opens, fill in the fields. Your UPS Address Book holds up to 2,000 addresses.
  4. Enter an optional nickname as an easy way to identify an address when editing or searching your UPS Address Book.
  5. Check the address as residential or consignee billable, if desired.
  6. Make sure that all required fields, which are shown in bold, contain acceptable and accurate data before selecting Save. The address will appear in your address book.

How To Delete an Address
  1. Select Address Book at the top of the page.
  2. Using the alphabetized links to search, find the address to delete.
  3. Select the name in the Company or Name column.
  4. On the page that displays, select Delete.

How To Edit an Address
  1. Select Address Book at the top of the page.
  2. Using the alphabetized links to search, find the address to edit.
  3. Select the name in the Company or Name column.
  4. On the page that displays, edit the address.
  5. Enter an optional nickname as an easy way to identify an address when editing or searching your UPS Address Book.
  6. You can also check the address as residential or consignee billable.
  7. After editing, make sure that all required fields, which are shown in bold, contain acceptable and accurate data before selecting Update. The edited address will appear in your address book.

How To Enter a New Address
  1. From the Ship a Package page, select Enter New Address. A new address window opens.
  2. Enter the requested information. Required fields are shown in bold. An asterisk (*) indicates fields required for international shipments.
  3. You can also save this address to your UPS address book.
  4. To save your entry, select Update. The new address immediately displays on the Ship a Package page.
