Selecting Your Service Option
  1. Create a descriptive name for your subscription, using up to 21 characters. This will be the name that appears in the Quantum View Data Summary, where you edit your subscriptions (for example, JonesHardware).
  2. Select a Quantum View Data service option.

If subscribing to Quantum View Data - Inbound, you have two service options to choose from. Select one.

  • Inbound Notification: Provides the ship date, shipped from address and shipped to address, Location ID, and forecasted delivery dates for inbound packages, including scheduled day of delivery, as well as any exception updates that could change these delivery dates. For exception updates the rescheduled day of delivery is calculated.
  • Inbound and Delivery Notification: Includes all the features of Inbound Notification plus delivery information about packages that have been received. Delivery information includes the date of delivery, the name of the person who signed for the shipment, the COD amount collected, and the full delivery address.

If subscribing to Quantum View Data - Outbound, you have three service options to choose from. Select one.

  • Outbound Notification: Provides complete information about outbound packages. Includes status updates through delivery with ship date, exception, and delivery detail. You can also add data elements for a complete manifest.
  • Delivery Notification: Provides delivery details and manifest information, including ship date, date and time of delivery, reference number, full delivery address, the name of the person who signed for the delivery, COD Amount collected, and other valuable delivery information. You can also add origin information and complete manifest data elements.
  • Exception Notification: Provides information about packages shipped that will not make the scheduled date of delivery. This includes exception status as well as re-scheduled date of delivery. This service provides a limited amount of manifest information.

If subscribing to Quantum View Data - Alternate Billing, you have three service options to choose from. Select one.

  • Alternate Billing Notification: Provides the most complete information about alternate billing packages.  It combines all elements from both the Delivery Notification, as well as Exception Notification options.
Note: Delivery Notification does not include the signature image or exception updates.
  • Exception Notification: Provides information about packages billed you your UPS account that will not make the scheduled date of delivery. This includes exception status as well as re-scheduled date of delivery. This service provides a limited amount of manifest information.

After completing your subscription, you can check the status of this request on the Inbound and Outbound Subscriptions page.

How do I set my file preferences in Quantum View Data?
  1. Select the checkbox next to "Notify me when files are posted to UPS.com" if you want to receive e-mail notifications when file updates are ready for download. Files are posted to the download site up to hourly. Depending on your shipping activity, you may receive an e-mail notification each hour, 24 hours a day, except on Saturdays from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time due to system maintenance.
  2. Enter an e-mail address where you would like your notifications sent. This e-mail address can be different from the one in your profile.
  3. Choose the format in which you would like to receive your files:
    • Flat files are text files from which all word processing, structure or markup characters have been removed. They generally take up less space than formatted files and can be used for Oracle®, SQL, Lotus 1-2-3, or other database applications. For help with using flat files, download the Flat File Guide, available on the Quantum View Inbound and Quantum View Outbound downloads page.
    • CSV files contain table data assembled in lines of plain text with the values from each cell separated by a comma and each row represented with a new line. A CSV file can be imported easily into Microsoft Access and Excel.
    • XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a flexible way to format information so it can be shared on the Web or Intranets. With XML, you can create standard ways to describe content, so information is shared consistently. XML uses the tags only to delimit pieces of data, and leaves the interpretation of the data completely to the application that reads it. XML appeals to users that have the need to download files to their individual desktop computers or to their local area network for use in Microsoft Excel, Access, Oracle, SQL, Lotus 1-2-3, or other database applications.
