Can UPS handle State Department License (SDL) export shipments?
Yes, UPS can handle the permanent export license type DSP-5 plus all permissible exports made under ITAR license exemptions, provided the license holder has applied for and received prior approval from the UPS Customs and Trade Compliance Department in Louisville, Kentucky. This procedure helps ensure full ITAR compliance even when shipping by the high-speed UPS express system. UPS Supply Chain Solutions can handle all State Department license types (i.e. DSP-5, DSP-61, DSP-73, DSP-85 and DSP-94) as well as ITAR exemption shipments without any advance approval.
