What is a UPS Freight Pickup Reference Number?
A Pickup Reference Number is a set of numbers or characters used by one or more parties to the shipment to identify the order and to help UPS Freight® secure the correct shipment. A Pickup Reference Number may be selected from a variety of sources, including Return Authorization numbers, load numbers and SID numbers.

Depending upon the kind of number selected, the shipment carrier may not necessarily know or use this number. If a number is not identified, UPS Freight will use the shipment PRO number or Pickup request confirmation number as the pickup reference number.
