How do reference numbers display in the billing data file?

The billing data file can contain up to seven reference numbers. For reference number(s) to be within the file, they must be provided by the shipper at the time of shipment. There are two reference numbers for a shipment, and five for each piece within a shipment. In the case of a multi-piece shipment, the lead package's reference numbers will be in the file. The reference numbers will be displayed as entered by the shipper.
