Exactly when will my package be delivered?
UPS Ground packages are generally delivered anytime Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (and sometimes later) to residences, and to business addresses during their normal business hours Monday through Friday. I've been tracking my package, but it doesn't seem to be moving. Why?

Your package is still within the UPS network and, unless otherwise noted, should be delivered on the Scheduled Delivery Date. Package movement information is captured each time a tracking label is scanned in the UPS delivery system.

Common scans you might see when tracking your package:

  • Billing Information Received: UPS has received the electronic transmission of shipment detail from the shipper and a label has been created for your shipment. Once UPS has possession of this shipment, the tracking status will be updated.
  • Origin: The package has been received at the origin UPS location.
Departure: The package has left the originating location and is on its way toward the destination address.
  • Arrival: The package has arrived at an intermediate UPS facility or the destination facility closest to the delivery address.
  • Out for Delivery: The shipment has reached the local UPS facility responsible for delivery. The shipment has been dispatched to a UPS driver and is scheduled for delivery today.
  • Delivered: UPS has delivered the shipment. The date and time of delivery have been recorded in the UPS delivery system.
  • Exception: Your shipment is currently within the UPS network; however, an unforeseen event has occurred which could result in a change to the Scheduled Delivery Date.

Why wasn't my package delivered in three days, as indicated?

Three days means three business days (not counting the day of pickup). Please note that the UPS Service Guarantee applies only to business days, and excludes weekends, holidays, and any delays that occur beyond the control of UPS.

My driver checked a box on my UPS InfoNotice saying he'd be here between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., but it's after 2:00. Why isn't he here yet?
The time frames given on the UPS InfoNotice are approximate, based on the time your driver expects to be in your area. Due to the variation of package volume and drivers' routes, UPS cannot provide a specific delivery time.

I missed a delivery. Can the driver make a second attempt today?

We are unable to provide two delivery attempts on the same day. Your driver will make a second attempt on the next business day, and a third attempt on the following business day, if necessary.

My shipment tracking status is "On Vehicle for Delivery". What time will I receive my shipment?
The shipment has been dispatched to a UPS driver for delivery today. Other than time-definite air deliveries, shipments are generally delivered anytime between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (and sometimes later) to residences, and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window. Up to three delivery attempts will be made, excluding weekends and holidays.

In the U.S. and Canada, shipments that don't require a signature can be left in a safe place at the driver's discretion. This could include the front porch, side door, back porch, or garage area. For residential deliveries that require a signature, you can leave instructions for the driver if no one will be home. For example, you can ask that the shipment be delivered to a neighbor who will be home. If an adult signature is required, and the sender has instructed us not to leave the shipment with a neighbor, we will make another delivery attempt on the next business day.
