UPS's fleet of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles is comprised of more than 2,500 vehicles, utilizing a variety of alternative technologies and/or alternative fuels. Our fleet is also one of the most diverse in the private delivery industry. We currently have vehicles with different technologies in operation, including:
We also continue to invest in alternative hydraulic hybrid technology. In 2011, we added 48 new liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks to our long-haul network. Currently, we are participating in the Interstate Clean Transportation Corridor (ICTC), an initiative funded through the U.S. Department of Energy to promote and enable more widespread use of clean transportation. It is the longest and most vital LNG corridor in the United States.
Approximately one-third of our alternative fuel/advanced technology vehicles operate outside the United States in Brazil, Canada, Netherlands, Chile, South Korea, Germany, and the UK. Our expanding green fleet is logging millions of miles every year. We've surpassed 240 million miles, and have our sights set on 400 million by 2017.
