UPS Extends Cut-off Time before Chinese New Year

UPS Express Freight provides more economic option for customers
 

Taiwan, January 21, 2009 - In response to the Chinese New Year peak season, UPS announced an extension of its cut-off time, starting January 22, and emphasized UPS ExpressSM Freight, which provides an even more economical option to help businesses in Taiwan in 2009. UPS ExpressSM Freight provides guaranteed time-definite, one-to three-day door-to-door services, delivering commodities weighing more than 70 kg to major cities worldwide.

Gary Wu, general manager of UPS Taiwan, said, "Under the current economic environment, UPS will continue expanding our service options. UPS ExpressSM Freight is the delivery option that responds to total cost benefit analysis. Customers who need to deliver heavy commodities not only benefit from the guaranteed time-definite service for items such as small packages, but also simultaneously enjoy an even more economical option. In addition to express delivery, UPS also provides multiple delivery services, including ocean, ground and air transportation, warehouse management and a variety of integrated business solutions to meet customers' needs.

"In the period, leading up to Chinese New Year, we will also be extending our service hours according to our customers' needs to meet more strict time, flexibility and cost requirements in an international business environment."

Special Cut-off Times before Chinese New Year

In preparation for Chinese New Year, UPS Taiwan has extended its pick-up cut-off time for customers making last minute shipments. From Thursday, January 22, to Friday, January 23, the extended pick-up cut-off times are as follows:

  • Taipei City - 20:00; extended to 22:00 for some areas
  • Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City and Kaohsiung City - 19:00
  • Taichung City - 18:00; extended to 20:00 for some areas
  • Tainan City - 17:00; extended to 18:00 for some areas

Regular pick-up services will be provided on Saturday, January 24.

The extended cut-off time is also applicable at the following UPS service centers:

  • Taipei, Neihu Center and Taichung Center - 18:00 on January 24
  • Chung-Ho Center - 14:00 on January 24
  • Taoyuan TransPacific Hub - 24:00 on January 24
  • Hsinchu Center and Kaohsiung Center - 13:30 on February 5
  • Tainan Center - 14:30 on January 24

UPS Customers can also send their packages through FamilyMart convenient stores. For stores in western Taiwan, the final pick up time will be at 12:00 noon on Jan 23. For stores in eastern Taiwan, the final pick up service will be on January 21 at 17:00. UPS will resume full service on February 2.

To facilitate quicker processing, customers can use UPS's online system for customs declaration at https://gocs.tradevan.com.tw/ups, which provides instant view, search, print, and download of customs declaration documents on the internet. It can also customize the email setting of each document sent, saving time and smoothing over miscellaneous business during the peak season.
