Updated Monday, August 30, 2010
From September 1, 2010, the Chinese Customs Authorities will implement reinforced regulations which will apply to all import and export shipments to and from China.
The following regulations will take effect:
A. Personal shipments whose import duty is assessed at 50RMB and below will be exempted from duty.
B. Formal declaration is required for personal shipments to and from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, if the declared shipment value is greater than 800 RMB; for all other countries, formal declaration is required, if the declared shipment value is greater than 1000RMB.
C. If a shipment exceeds the above value threshold, but contains only 1 item and reasonably for personal use only, customs may allow it to be declared as personal. (This is at the discretion of China Customs)
D. The reinforced regulations may result in longer clearance time for imported personal packages.*
UPS is working closely with the local Customs authorities to minimise potential impacts and will actively communicate updates to our customers.
