SINGAPORE, Feb. 9, 2009 - Ken Torok has been named president
of UPS's global freight forwarding operations.
Torok, 55, is rejoining UPS after having most recently served as president of
the company's Asia Pacific Region through mid-2008. In his new capacity, Torok
will direct the UPS global organisation responsible for strategy, performance
and revenue growth for forwarding services. He will oversee commercial air and
ocean carrier relationships as well as coordinate trade lane development and
international freight sales.
"Ken brings extensive knowledge and experience to the job," said Dan Brutto,
president of UPS International. "During his 33 years with UPS, Ken successfully
directed many UPS operations outside the United States, developing important
relationships in the process that will serve us well in his new capacity."
Torok, in his 5-year tenure as president of Asia Pacific, enhanced the
network infrastructure serving the region by expanding UPS's air links and
services within Asia and establishing the industry's first wholly owned
operation in China.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Torok graduated from North Carolina State
University and joined the company in 1975 as a part-time loader. He then
continued to take on positions of increasing responsibility before becoming
District manager in Utah. Torok also spent several years in Europe, where he
held various managerial posts and played a key role in the integration of the
company's ground and air operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
