The company offers same tools for shipping and tracking freight and
small packages; extended functionality to help importers increase control over
shipments
New York, June 15, 2010 - UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced
enhancements to several technological tools, that simplify the use of various
transportation modes and allow importers to increase control over shipments.
"Small and large enterprises rely on UPS's services to bridge the distance
between their suppliers and customers", said Dan Brutto, president of UPS
International. "The technologies are the key to helping shippers, particularly,
exporters and importers, to enhance their global supply chains".
Today at the 89th Annual Conference & Expo of the American Association of
Exporters and Importers, UPS announced the following enhancements:
- With the new function UPS Import Controlsm importers will be able to
increase control and reduce delays of their shipments: importers will be able to
process the imported shipments through the UPS's interactive system,
specifically, through CampusShip® or Internet Shipping on ups.com.
- CampusShip will join WorldShip® and Internet Shipping in
processing air freight shipments in addition to less-than-truckload (LTL)
freight shipments, using the same simple-to-use interface to process and track
small packages as well as LTL shipments.
- Quantum View® Manage web application increases the support for
shipper visibility of air, ocean and LTL freight shipments.
- ups.com now provides self-enrolment of UPS Paperless® Invoice, which allows
small package shipments to clear customs in 92 countries electronically,
eliminating the need of error-prone paper forms of commercial invoices.
UPS Import Control UPS Import Control allows importers to
control inbound logistics together with exporters. UPS Import Control will
be available in July and will allow importers to use CampusShip or Internet
Shipping applications to create shipping labels and commercial invoices for
small package import shipment and forward these documents to domestic or
international shippers (exporters). The importer can dispatch UPS driver to
provide the materials and collect the shipment.
On importer's request the invoice can be removed from the shipment prior to
delivery to the third-party, so that the end-customer doesn't receive
information on the cost of goods. Besides, importers don't have to supply the
exporter with their UPS customer number and exporter can even use the client
number of other shipper.
Through a web-based tool, Quantum View Manage tool or tracking system
on ups.com, importers can track all the stages of shipping - from pickup to
final delivery, including all the exception information, which allows to plan
work schedule, provide enhanced customer service and maintain balanced inventory
levels.
Enhancements in Shipping and Tracking System In July UPS
will enhance its Quantum View Manage application and provide freight shippers
with more detailed shipping information, access to documentation (commercial
invoices, packing lists and reweigh certificates) as well as access to advanced
freight alerts and notifications about the key stages of delivery. At the same
time, UPS is enhancing its interactive system CampusShip to deploy informational
support for air freight shipment. WorldShip and Internet Shipping already
provide air and LTL freight support. This means that UPS's clients can now
easily process and track small packages and freight shipments with the same
tools, simplifying the use of various transportation modes in their supply
chains.
UPS Paperless Invoice Starting from July all the
