Using Your Address Book
The My UPS Address Book is your personal database for up to 2,000 shipping addresses. It contains easy-to-use functionality designed to speed your shipping process. Here, learn how to import addresses from an external address book, create new addresses, and delete and edit old ones.


How To Select Addresses from an External Source
System Requirements
Before installing the External Address Book control, verify that your computer meets the following system and browser requirements:

  • Microsoft® Windows® XP or VISTA is installed
  • Apple® Macintosh with Mac® OS is installed

Note: You must have Administrative Rights for the Windows XP and VISTA operating systems to install the External Address Book Plug-in.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, 8, or 9.

    Note: The External Address Book only works with Internet Explorer; other browser versions are not supported. UPS Internet Shipping and UPS CampusShip are compatible with all listed browsers.

  • Outlook 2000 (or above) is installed.
  • Act 6.0, Outlook Express, and Outlook 98 or earlier versions are not supported.

Before you can select addresses from your external address book, you must download and install the External Address Book Plug-in from the Shipping page.

  1. Log in.
  2. Select the Shipping tab at the top of the page.
  3. Select Create a Shipment.
  4. Select External Address Book Link under Begin Your Shipment.
  5. Select Next to install, then Finish.
  6. Select the link again in order to access and use your external address book.

Note: No beta versions of operating systems or browsers are supported.

After you have installed the External Address Book Plug-in, you will be able to select addresses from your Outlook® Address Book and they will automatically display on your shipping screen:

  1. Log into Create a Shipment on the Shipping tab of ups.com.
  2. Select External Address Book in section 1 "Where is this shipment going?"
  3. Type name or select from list, then OK.
  4. Complete your shipment.

To save this address to your My UPS Address Book, select Save As New and provide a name for your entry.

How To Create a New Personal Address
  1. Select Address Book at the top of the page.
  2. When the page opens, select Add Address.
  3. When the Address Information page opens, fill in the fields. Your UPS Address Book holds up to 2,000 addresses.
  4. Enter an optional nickname as an easy way to identify an address when editing or searching your UPS Address Book.
  5. Check the address as residential or consignee billable, if desired.
  6. Make sure that all required fields, which are shown in bold, contain acceptable and accurate data before selecting Save. The address will appear in your address book.

How To Delete an Address
  1. Select Address Book at the top of the page.
  2. Using the alphabetized links to search, find the address to delete.
  3. Select the name in the Company or Name column.
  4. On the page that displays, select Delete.

How To Edit an Address
  1. Select Address Book at the top of the page.
  2. Using the alphabetized links to search, find the address to edit.
  3. Select the name in the Company or Name column.
  4. On the page that displays, edit the address.
  5. Enter an optional nickname as an easy way to identify an address when editing or searching your UPS Address Book.
  6. You can also check the address as residential or consignee billable.
  7. After editing, make sure that all required fields, which are shown in bold, contain acceptable and accurate data before selecting Update. The edited address will appear in your address book.

How To Enter a New Address
  1. From the Ship a Package page, select Enter New Address. A new address window opens.
  2. Enter the requested information. Required fields are shown in bold. An asterisk (*) indicates fields required for international shipments.
  3. You can also save this address to your UPS address book.
  4. To save your entry, select Update. The new address immediately displays on the Ship a Package page.

How To Import and Export Addresses
Rather than manually modifying individual addresses in your My UPS Address book, you can export address information to a file and modify multiple records. The modified file can then be imported back into My UPS.

Up to 2,000 addresses can be imported into your My UPS Address Book using the following address books:

  • My UPS Address Book
  • UPS WorldShip Address Book
  • UPS WorldShip International Address Book
  • DHL.com Address Book
  • DHL EasyShip® Address Book
  • DHL CorporateShip Address Book
  • FedEx Ship Manager® Address Book
  • FedEx.com Address Book
 
Exporting Addresses
To export addresses, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to My UPS
  2. Select Address Book from the side navigation
  3. Select Export Addresses (selecting the link will create your export request)

After creating your export file request, a screen displays allowing you to check the status of your export request. Export File Request Status can include:

  • In Progress: This indicates that an export request is being processed and will complete momentarily, depending on size. To view the latest status, refresh the page.
  • Completed: Displays a link to View Data.
  • Completed with Errors: Displays links to View Data and View Errors.
  • Failed: Displays a link to View Errors.

 
Importing Addresses
To import addresses into your My UPS Address Book, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to My UPS
  2. Select Address Book in the side navigation
  3. Select Import Addresses
  4. Browse to the comma separated value (.csv) file you wish to import
  5. Choose the original file format for the file you want to import (i.e., how the addresses were originally created)
  6. Choose whether you want to add the addresses to your address book or overwrite your existing My UPS Address Book with the addresses you are importing
  7. Select Import

You can then check the status of your import request on the View Import/Export Status page.
