What do I need to know about compression of my UPS Billing Data?

UPS provides the option of receiving UPS Billing Data files in a compressed or uncompressed format. Compressed files are smaller, which is useful for both storage and faster transport of the file. UPS Billing Data is compressed into a "zip" file, which has a .zip filetype.  Windows 2000 and later versions support the ability to uncompress ("unzip") this file.  If you are using a prior version of Windows, there are several programs that can unzip files available.

If you choose to have UPS apply file compression, your PDF, CSV, or XML files will be compressed using the ZIP compression format.

To change the compression format:

  1. Log into My UPS
  2. Select Billing  from the left navigation menu
  3. Select Update Package Service Electronic Billing Settings.
  4. Change the Apply File Compression setting.
  5. Select Update.
