UPS continues growth with new Express Counter in the city of Villahermosa, Tabasco
Mexico City, December 10th, 2008 - UPS announced today the opening of a new center of operations in Mexico. The new Villahermosa, Tabasco facility will offer logistics solutions for companies in the area looking to expand their business nationally and internationally.
"Mexico is the most important market for UPS in Latin America. As a result, we developed an aggressive expansion plan designed to create fully owned UPS operations in key cities such as Villahermosa, Veracruz, Merida, Cancun, Ciudad del Carmen and Coatzacoalcos," said Griselda Hernandez, UPS Mexico Country Manager. "The latest center in Villahermosa is part of this multi-million dollar expansion plan, which will allow us to offer increased shipping options to companies in the Tabasco region."
The center's new UPS Express Counter, which operates from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, offers UPS's signature services portfolio including:
- UPS Domestic ExpressSM portfolio - delivery the following business day to 100 percent of all postal codes in Mexico.
- UPS Worldwide ExpressSM portfolio - delivery the following business day to the U.S. and Canada and within 2-3 business days to the main metropolitan cities in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America (over 215 countries and territories covered).
- UPS Worldwide ExpeditedSM - delivery to over 60 countries worldwide within 2-5 business days.
Customers will be able to view their shipments' progress every step of the way utilizing UPS's tracking technology, enabled by DIAD. DIAD, or Delivery Information Acquisition Device, is a hand-held computer that UPS drivers use to record, store and transmit package information. The DIAD digitally captures customer signatures and package information, which is transmitted to UPS's data centers for immediate customer use via the Web. This also has made it possible to keep accurate, paperless delivery records.
The Villahermosa center is one of several investments that UPS has made recently in Mexico. Earlier in July, the company increased its international air cargo capacity by 66 percent with the introduction of an Airbus 300-600 to address the growing needs of Mexican customers.
"UPS is committed to continue its investment in the growth and development of its business in Mexico. By offering more access points and a wider array of services, we are helping local businesses grow and expand to international markets," concluded Hernandez.
