15 New Operating Centers Increase Access Points by 75 Percent
MEXICO CITY, Jan. 15, 2007 - UPS (NYSE:UPS), the world's largest package delivery company, today announced the expansion of its service reach in Mexico through 15 new operating facilities, increasing access points by 75 percent.
As part of UPS's $7 million investment in Mexico in 2006, the additional centers bring the total number of UPS cargo and package-processing sites to 35 throughout the country. The new UPS facilities and the company's expanded logistics network will accelerate the movement of goods, information and funds in Mexico and to the rest of the world.
The Mexican cities where the new centers will be located include: Veracruz, Monclova, Puerto Vallarta, Ciudad Obregon, Manzanillo, Colima, Zacatecas, Culiacan, Mazatlan, Merida, Cancun, Villahermosa, Acapulco, Tampico and Pachuca.
"Broadening UPS's network further strengthens the company's ability to provide specialized transportation and logistics services to Mexico's increasingly global-oriented businesses," said Griselda Hernandez, general manager for UPS Mexico.
"UPS's expansion provides Mexican companies with a wider range of logistics solutions, improved transit times, visibility into their shipping and high-level service, both domestically and internationally," she added.
